I think he really caught her in innocence JUST before stardom had hit, 1995. Most would know, but this has special interest to me because by brother Jason Orme has been a guitarist in her band for 13 years now. Here's Jay's comments on the photo, which he posted on Facebook:

This was shot in my studio SOMA, SF right when her first record - Jagged Little Pill was coming out. It had not exploded yet (had sold a few copies) and I was shooting her for a BAM Magazine cover story, as well as a Request Magazine(this was the "Sam Goody" Magazine") cover story. These were her first magazine covers and I shot 2 of them in one day.

Yeah, many call Jagged her first record just because it was her first major label release. Also, of course, the one which made her a star. She is one of those stories, almost completely unknown, then seemingly in a few weeks (that's actually not far off), she's known in China and India. That must have been a bit overwhelming. And to this day Jagged Little Pill is the biggest selling "debut" by any artist of all-time............it's sold over 35 million copies. Jason of course was not in her band yet in 1995 but he plays on Jagged Little Pill Acoustic which came out much later.

If you ever watched "how I met your mom" I think Cdn Character has a fictional background very similar to Alanis's early years.
She had a couple of teeny bopper dance hits in the 80's here in Canada. Enjoy!!!!
