I'm going to see some good music this summer - Tedescji/Trucks, Gregg Allman, Kenny Wayne Shephard/Johnny Lang, Keb Mo

I recently missed Jimmy Vaughn

What I really want to hear is someone in the same vein as SRV, Danny Gatton, Rory, Duane Allman

I used to love to see Chris Duarte blow the doors off small venues and grew up seeing Luther Guitar Junior Johnson regularly

Most of the music I love was made by people who have been dead for twenty + years, who are some new players I could see in a smaller venue?

I do know that living in Maine limits my opportunities.

Thanks very much,
Colin

Good post, Chris Duarte is the real stuff -- really dug him back in the day -- like you said played a lot of the smaller clubs -- check out Tab Benoit sometime, great blues player similar to Duarte --

Nice,

Tab Benoit is familiar - meaning that I have a lot of his recorded material

Chambers looks good

Duarte - loved his live stuff in the 90s, lots of studio stuff more recently that seems to miss the mark for me

Got on the Sean Costello band wagon too late, can Kenny Wayne Shephard get it done live? Anyone have that "Live in Chicago" album, I keep on buying his blues projects, the I think to myself; why would anybody redo "The House is Rockin'?"

Davy Knowles. Looks like he's doing a decent amount of US stops this year . . . looks like smaller festivals.

His new CD is a good one. Not as good as his first, when he was with Back Door Slam, but much better than his (to me) disappointed second effort ("Coming Up For Air."). He has a live CD out too, from an Australian tour, that I like too.

If you haven't heard him, a good jammy tune to listen to that'll give you a good idea of what he does is his live version of "Almost Cut My Hair." There are a bunch on YouTube.

I second the Tab Benoit suggestions And, one thing that really adds to his music is that he's got a wonderful, soulful voice.

Also, JD Simo. He probably keeps it close to the Nashville area, but he's really good.

I'm pretty sure that all of these guys are currently touring in the New England area...

Roberto Morbioli
Joe Moss
Nick Moss
Selwyn Birchwood
Matt Schofield
Popa Chubby

Might be something there of interest to you.

Jonny Lang is touring with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and playing Maine State Pier in Portland June 11th. Now that is a concert I would love to see!

Joe Bonamassa is playing a tribute to Albert, BB and Freddy King in Bangor, ME August 12th

I've seen hundreds of blues / bluesrock concerts and many of the afore mentioned artists (unfortunally not Duane) so it's getting more difficult to being impressed but if you are into
guitar and harp blues (but with the focus on the guitar) i can strongly recommend seeing
"The 44's featuring Kid Ramos". Kid Ramos returned to the stage (played prior in "The Fabulous Thunderbirds" among many others) after battling effin' cancer. He plays as if possesed. Jawdropping! They will blow you away!

The 44's Blues Band are currently touring with Kid Ramos so he may be a temporarily special guest
but they play together as if they are doing this for many years. So it would be cool to try and catch a show that states "featuring / with special guest Kid Ramos".
