Gov't Mule: The Tel-Star Sessions

[Edited on 8/20/2016 by robslob]

Great disc (as expected).
Wish they would've done "Fire In The Kitchen" too.
Picked it up this week at FYE for $10.

I got my copy this week and WOW. Nobody could do that constant Thump like Woody. I miss him so much. My first Mule show was at the Barney Allis Plaza in downtown Kansas City in the summer of 99 and I went to see Warren because that's all I knew at the time. But when the show started, I was transfixed on Woody's playing and stayed that way for the entire show. I'll never forget that show. This CD brings me back to those days.

Probably my favorite version of Mother Earth, just so damn raw. Has that true trio sound to it, especially during the solos. RIP Allen.

Just picked this up. Love it! These recent Mule archive releases are some of my favorite music. Sco-Mule and now the Telstar Sessions show just how talented the Mule has always been. Every time you hear Capt. Woody just makes you miss him more. There is an obvious enthusiasm emanating from the tracks - a sense of freedom that the musicians are experiencing. One of the things I like is that Warren overdubs some neat stuff. He's not hung up worrying if he can pull it off live and the music is better for it. I really dig that outer space slide outro on "West Coast Groovies". Makes me wonder what other goodies Warren has hiding in the closet ...
