Thanks so much for posting the setlist! I'm surprised that John Popper was a guest on so many tunes. Is he touring with Sco-Mule or did he just happen to be in Seattle last night? And did he just play harp or did he sing, too?

Wabash is off Scofield's album "Loud Jazz".
This from Jambands:
Gov’t Mule kicked off their Sco-Mule tour with guitarist John Scofield last night at the Moore Theatre in Seattle. The band was joined by special guest John Popper during the show, which also featured a couple of song debuts.Mule began the night with a few guest-free songs before Scofield finally took the stage in the middle of the first set.
The guitarist first came out for a take on “The Other One Jam” that featured lyrics from “3rd Stone From The Sun,” “Norwegian Wood,” “Paint It Black” and “Gimme Shelter.” Next came a rendition of the Medeski, Scofield, Matin & Wood collaboration “Hottentot” that was followed by Mule’s first-ever version the Allman Brothers Band’s “Instrumental Illness.” The set then wrapped up with a take on “What Is Hip?”
The band returned to kick off the second set with Mule’s debut of the Scofield original “Wabash” before digging into a “Sco-Mule” that included “Hottentot” and “Oye Como Va” teases. Next, Blues Traveler harmonica whiz John Popper joined the fray for Little Feat’s “Spanish Moon,” which played into “Drums” and a set-closing “Thorazine Shuffle.” Sco-Mule came back out with Popper to end the night on a “Soulshine” that was sandwiched around “Tupelo Honey.”
Gov’t Mule and John Scofield will continue their tour tonight at the McDonald Theatre in Eugene, OR.
Here’s a look at last night’s setlist as it appears in our Box Scores:Set I: World Boss, Brand New Angel, Inside Outside Woman Blues, I’m A Ram, Fallen Down > The Other One Jam (with 3rd Stone From The Sun, Norwegian Wood & Paint it Black Teases)*, Hottentot*, Instrumental Illness^, What Is Hip?*Set II: Wabash^, Sco-Mule (with Hottentot & Oye Como Va Teases)*, Spanish Moon^^ > Drums > Thorazine ShuffleEnc: Soulshine% > Tupelo Honey% > Soulshine%Notes: *with John Scofield?^with John Scofield, first Time Played?^^with John Scofield and John Popper?%with John PopperSource: www.mule.net

What a setlist, hoping someone taped that show.

Amazing set! I am going to see them next month at the Capital Theatre..After reading that I cannot wait to go!..THANKS for posting this!

That has me excited for 3/8 in Westbury!

Thanks so much. I'm going tomorrow night at The Fox Theatre in Oakland..........getting psyched. I love John Popper, just saw his band Brother's Keeper last month. I hope he travels with them from Seattle, that would be cool.

Just got back from Sco-Mule in Eugene. Sorry Rob, no John Popper, but I know you won't be disappointed when you see them!! I'm sorry I didn't write down the setlist, but my absolute favorite part was an unbelievably INTENSE version of "Kind of Bird"> "Elizabeth Reed jam"> "Kind of Bird" that closed the first set. The soloing on this tune was easily some of the most spine-tingling guitar playing I've ever heard- Warren and John Scofield have incredible chemistry- it's similar to the magic that always happens when Warren plays with Derek. "Pass the Peas" was SUPER FUNKY- everybody down front was dancing on this one. The encore was a very slow, deep soul-gospel-blues take on "Amazing Grace" that also contained teases of what I thought was "Soul Serenade"- another favorite Allman Bros./DTB tune of mine.
The new Sco-Mule album is really, really great- my favorite live Warren recording I've heard so far (except for the stuff with Derek). Great long jams with Warren and John. And Allen Woody is unbelievably good on this album- I miss his playing a lot- really unique tone and style. Be sure to get the Bonus Disc version with "Afro Blue"! Enjoy, Sco-Mule fans!!!!
