I am not really a fan of his or follow todays country music scene, but he was in town last week and played 5 shows in 4 days and from reports sold out everyone which was 70,000 plus seats. Thats pretty impressive.

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Garth did 5 shows in 3 nights in Atlanta (Fri-Sun) in 2014 at Philips arena. He then did two more the next weekend (Fri, Sat).

The nights with only one show were 2hrs 15mins long and the other nights were just under 2 hours.

Lower level tickets were $70 (not sure about first 10 row type pricing). He could have done 2-3 shows and made as much money. Respect for the guy.

I saw one of the nights and it was a good show. Garth has some good songs (and I know Warren is happy Two of Kind has been albums that have sold 30 million copies).

I have several friends that work directly for Garth. All of them were part of his first tour, even though they worked, at that time, for various sound and lighting companies. When Garth came out of retirement, he called each of these people. Personally, he called them and asked them if they would be part of the tour. Most of my friends are older and slower, and most were honest enough to tell him that he would get more done with younger, faster techs. He told them that that was not the point, that he wanted everyone who had been part of his early success to be able to take some victory laps with him. So, my friends were told to hire assistants if needed to do the job, their presence was more important to Garth than their physical abilities. One of my friends, Candida, has become one of his stage managers. She started as a second electrician with Garth when she worked for Bandit Lights. Last year she got married. She had asked Garth if there were dates on the books for the weekend she got married and Garth thought for a minute and said "No". But he told her she would have to be married at his house and that his wife would do the catering. It was a beautiful wedding, with Trisha Yearwood running around like bride's mother, fussing over all of the details and she did, in fact, cook everything served at the reception dinner and Garth was beaming and at times emotional, as if Dida was his daughter. Only later would she learn that Garth had actually moved a couple of dates to make it possible for her to be married on the same day as her mother.
I'm not a big fan of his music, but I am a huge fan of his humanity.

I’ll say: Garth isn’t “today’s country.” Not anything near it. He was a 90’s country star, which while getting crossover appeal was still real country in my mind.

Dude was a hit machine, and not just that, but the songwriting (not sure how much he wrote) and the playing were top notch. He was a well-deserved music superstar in my opinion.

Cool story upton.

Tedeschi Trucks played three shows in two days a couple of years ago in Chicago. I saw the first two but missed the last one. The second one was am invite only promo thing at a club down on the south side. I got free tickets for both of the shows I went to.

I could have gone to the last one at The Chicago Theatre but I was kind of TTB'd out. Plus my ears were ringing from being in front of Susan's amp the first night.

Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.
