Foreigner‘s taking to the road again for their 40th anniversary, and they’ve invited some familiar faces along – including original frontman Lou Gramm, Billboard reports.
1/9 Update: After initially saying he hadn’t been invited, Gramm now says he will reunite with Foreigner for “a song or two” at an undetermined show in the future.
Cheap Trick and former drummer Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience will share the bill, which will also feature guest turns by Gramm’s fellow departed co-founders Ian McDonald and Al Greenwood. “They’re not on the whole tour, but there will be some appearances,” original Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones tells Billboard. “It’s the right time to do this. I’m looking forward to that and we’ll see how it goes, and I’m sure it’ll go down well.”
These package bills begin on June 11 in Syracuse and continue through Sept. 9 in Auburn, Wash. A complete list of dates, cities and venues is below; tickets go on sale Jan. 13 via Live Nation. Foreigner already announced a string of other individual concerts set to begin on Jan. 30, as well as a European tour that starts on May 20 in Switzerland.
Cheap Trick was part of Foreigner’s first-ever headlining tour in 1978. Bonham was with the band from 2004-08. Jones says he expects all three acts to collaborate with one another on stage along the way. “I couldn’t be a better mix for me,” Jones added. “It’s almost like a family tour, with some healthy competition from everybody, I’m sure. Cheap Trick’s not an easy band to go on after.”
Foreigner is also promising some new material as part of a forthcoming two-disc 40-song anniversary compilation. Jones’ memoir A Foreigner’s Tale is set for publication this spring, as well.

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

I thought Mick Jones and Lou Gramm hated each other. I've seen what is called Foreigner twice within the past several years and it is a farce. Mick's band plays for about 45 minutes (they are pretty good) and then this big announcement that Mick Jones is coming on stage.
The last time I saw Lou and Mick together was okay at best but I would like to see this. I hope they are together for the Chicago show.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

Cheap Trick was part of Foreigner’s first-ever headlining tour in 1978.
That's odd, because I remember clearly seeing Foreigner in August of 1977 at Circle Theater in downtown Indy with some Australian band - AC/DC - opening for them. I saw Foreigner 4 or 5 times total, each time in Indy, and they always put on a great show. Too bad I never got to see that Austrailian band again. I heard their singer died tragically 2 or 3 years later.
