Fleetwood Mac Eager to Play Pre-Buckingham Songs on Upcoming Tour

The departure of Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac has given the band an opportunity to shake up the set list for their upcoming tour.
In a new interview, Stevie Nicks said that they're going to be pulling songs from their entire history, not just the 1975-87 period where Buckingham was one of the three creative forces in the group.
“We were never able to do that since 1975 because certain people in the band weren’t interested in doing that,” she told Rolling Stone. “Now we’re able to open the set with a lot -- a raucous version of [1969’s] ‘Rattlesnake Shake’ or something. I’d also like to do [1970’s] ‘Station Man,’ which has always been one of may favorites. We’re definitely doing [1970’s] ‘Oh Well.’”
According to Setlist.fm, they haven't played "Station Man," found on 1970's Kiln House, since April 23, 1977. "Rattlesnake Shake," from 1969's Then Play On, was regularly performed on the Tango in the Night tour in 1987, which didn't feature Buckingham. But "Oh Well," also from Then Play On, was played regularly on 2009's Unleashed tour, and Mike Campbell, who will be playing guitar with Fleetwood Mac, performed it more than 100 times as a member of Tom Petty's Heartbreakers. Fleetwood Mac's tour doesn't begin until October, and they'll have two months of rehearsals leading up to it to build the set list.
Nicks admitted that it will be fascinating to see how their more obscure songs fits into their tried-and-true material. “There are 10 hits we have to do,” she noted. “That leaves another 13 songs if you want to do a three-hour show. Then you crochet them all together and you make a great sequence, and you have something that nobody has seen before except all the things they want to see are there. At rehearsal, we’re going to put up a board of 60 songs. Then we start with number one and we go through and we play everything. Slowly you start taking songs off and you start to see your set come together.”
Buckingham left Fleetwood Mac when he clashed with the others over when to start the tour, but Mick Fleetwood doesn't like the idea of saying he was fired. “Words like ‘fired’ are ugly references as far as I’m concerned,” he said. “Not to hedge around, but we arrived at the impasse of hitting a brick wall. This was not a happy situation for us in terms of the logistics of a functioning band. To that purpose, we made a decision that we could not go on with him. Majority rules in term of what we need to do as a band and go forward.”

Fleetwood Mac Say They ‘Hit a Brick Wall’ With Lindsey Buckingham
Fleetwood Mac said Lindsey Buckingham won't be joining them on their just-announced North American tour because he simply wouldn't commit to spending so long on the road.
"It became just a huge impasse, and hit a brick wall, to where we decided that we had to part company," drummer Mick Fleetwood explained on CBS This Morning.
"We just couldn't agree," Stevie Nicks concurred. "When you're in a band, it's king. I have a solo career, and I love my solo career, and I'm the boss, absolutely. But I'm not the boss in this band."
“We were supposed to go into rehearsal in June, and [Buckingham] wanted to put it off until November [2019],” Nicks told Rolling Stone in a separate interview. “That’s a long time. I just did 70 shows [on a solo tour]. As soon as I finish one thing, I dive back into another. Why would we stop? We don’t want to stop playing music. We don’t have anything else to do. This is what we do.”
Fleetwood refused to say Buckingham was fired, however, and had nothing but compliments for his longtime bandmate. "We don't use that word, because I think it's ugly," he said. "It's not a question of that. Lindsey has huge amounts of respect and kudos [for] what he's done within the ranks of Fleetwood Mac, and always will. But it's like a marriage that came to an end, and there are reasons why. As a band, we needed to move on, and we have."
That includes adding not one but two major players: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and Crowded House frontman Neil Finn. "I had this big grin on my face, because it's a call you never expect to get," Finn said of the day he was invited to join the group.
Following the October 2017 death of Campbell's longtime musical partner Petty, "I was wondering what I was going to do," the guitarist admitted. "I had a few things, but nothing quite as big as this. It already feels like a band, and we've only played once or twice. With a little rehearsal, I think it's just going to be incredible."
Nicks noted that Petty's death "changed me and Mike, for sure. We need to take everyday that we have until we're gone, and make it the best day that we can. If that can happen to Tom, then it can happen to anybody. I'm going to have the most fun I can. I'm going to stop complaining and I'm going to throw myself into all these projects, because you just never know."
Fleetwood also indicated that the once-again reconfigured group plans to record new music at some point in the future. "This is absolutely a new band," he said. "This is the new lineup of Fleetwood Mac. Both these gentleman have a legacy of their own, they don’t need to have a calling card."

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

I hope they continue with a European Tour after the US run ... I would love yo go and see them again ... especially if they are putting more Peter Green material into the set.

"certain people" lol. they played "oh well" in 2009 live and nicks was so respectful of these pre 1975 songs that she actually left the stage every night while "oh well" was played. shes the one who members have stated didn't want pre 1975 songs as she had nothing to do while the songs were being played

Oh Well
