First time on the Marquee.

Nowadays you can only dream of seeing such a marquee. Those were the days.

A Bill Graham bill, Savoy Brown, The Kinks , and Renaissance, talk about cross genre booking.

I'd like to hear that Jack Bruce and Friends show!

There isn't a show there that I would not want to hear. I almost wish I was born a few years earlier

I love these old photographs which are evocative of a time when going to gigs seemed more exciting, less sanitised, even slightly daring.
A time when you could afford to go and see bands on the off-chance that you might discover a gem; when scoring a seat for a popular show meant spending your lunch-break queuing at the venue in the hope of getting a ticket.
I remember spending many a lunch-break going to my local Virgin records store - it actually more closely resembled a Middle Eastern bazaar! - asking what the hold up was with Lightning Rod/ Brothers & Sisters and Laidback!

i remember many fridays, leaving my college in upstate NY, driving down 4 hours to the fillmore for the friday night shows and driving back to school. 4 or 5 of us did this every few months fun times, great memories remember seeing Hendrix, Procol Harum, the Band, Steve Miller, Crosby Still Neil Young and Crazyhorse Leslie West and probably a few others.

ooh if only bills where like that today. maybe the shows will come out someday...
