I tried to post the below comment in the Live Show Data Base, but it wouldn't allow me to do it. That might be because I am still a Peach Pit and my comments need to be reviewed by a moderator. So, I will try it here...

Jai Alai Fronton, Miami, FL June, 23, 1972

I attended this concert. I remember a distinctly potent brew of mushroom tea being shared in the parking lot. It was passed around in Mason jars. The opening acts were Blue Oyster Cult, John Hammond (solo) and the Alex Taylor Band. John Hammond joined the ABB onstage for a song early in their set. I don't remember which song, but he played harmonica and was warmly greeted by Greg Allman.

There seems to be some confusion here with the schedule of shows in June of 1972. A couple of days after the concert at the Jai Alai Fronton in Miami, the ABB played a show at the West Palm Beach Auditorium. I remember driving up from Miami with my brother for a second helping of live AllBros music. The WPB Auditorium was a cool, futuristic-looking venue that was built at mid-century. It had elevated walkways over a blue-water moat that surrounded the building. I don't know the exact date, but I am sure that it was part of this swing thru South Florida during the Summer Tour of '72. Is there anyone else who remembers a concert at the WPB Auditorium in June of 1972 ???

Thanks for the welcome! Growing up in South Florida, I was lucky enough to see some great shows in the late 60's and early 70's ... Grateful Dead (2x), Allman Brothers (3x), Hot Tuna, Steve Miller, Spirit, Quicksilver, Ike & Tina Turner and BB King.

The ABB shows were always my favorite and they had a strong following in South Florida. The Miami Jai Alai Fronton was a concrete-block building and the Marshall Amps were LOUD in that venue. I think my ears are still ringing 40 years later.

Welcome Bill.

I was at that Jai-alai around that time but sadly not for the ABB. Just for the Jai-Alai. Would have much preferred the ABB. 😛

Great stories. Thanks.
