So I have tickets to the Saturday show and Jaimoe, and after getting shut out of the pre-sale and missing Peach Fest, I'm caving in and buying some nose bleeds for the final show off of Stub Hub. I can't not go. I have to be there. See you all there.

Your killing me.

I'm trying to come to grips with only the penultimate show.

Then I read about all these cool people going to the last show, or even better, all the shows.

I read about how the last show will go past midnight in memory of Duane's untimely and tragic death...

Arghhh!

My show is 9 days out. Will I stay over for a tenth show? How badly will I smell? How crusty will my underwear crust? Should I pack a change of clothes just in case?

haha, it wasn't an easy decision, Billy - and then there was no other possible decision to make. I had made peace with not getting tickets to the final show, and Saturday (what would have been the final Beacon show in March) being MY final Allmans show. But there was just no way. I have got to be in that theater when the final curtain falls. Especially since I live in NYC, there are so many people who are making the trek AND dropping dough on 2nd market tickets to be there for it. Everything this band has meant to me over the years, I'd regret it forever if I wasn't there for the final bow.

I say, let the underwear crust til it cracks, because this road is about to come to an end.

That said, hopefully my StubHub tickets are legit (they usually are, but there's always a chance).

I'm close to caving.

If I do I hope to see a crusty underwear character in one of your brilliant and creative cartoons.

I just asked the wife, "Will you hate me if I stay over in New York for the last show?"

She said, "The last show?"

I said, "Yeah."

She said, "The last, last show?"

I said, "By all indications."

She replied, "No. No I won't hate you."

Sounds like a, "Sure Honey! Enjoy the show." to me. Grin

Sounds like enough of a loop hole for me. At least she's knows for sure this will be the last fling.

I did the same thing, texted my girl while she was at work today. She's all for it and coming with. Bought tickets on StubHub and canceled my gym membership. Gotta balance the budget somehow.

Well porkchopbob I booked a hotel room today, so, barring any unforeseen complications, my shorts should be fresh and clean, not crusty, for the final show!

I still haven't bought my ticket, but I changed my train reservation and got the hotel. So now I'll troll Stubhub and pull the trigger on a ticket in the next 24 to 48 hours...

Good luck. You may do well looking for a single. I imagine prices will drop the closer to the show.

Do these rumours ever pan out?

Well they aren't playing Westbury or Jones Beach where they make you get off the stage at 11 pm or charge you for violating contracts.

In respect to Duane, I would think it should be possible.

I seriously doubt that. Union fees would likely keep them from going too far over.

No matter the midnight thing I'm sure the Tuesday show will give me what I need. I just feel like I won't get the closure I need from going to only the Monday show.

Plus the weather is supposed to be spectacular.

Hey gina!

Sage advice. I'm able to afford the hotel but good thinking on the gym and the car. The Upper Westside YMCA is also a good option.

Thanks Billy! I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this point. I'm 4 pints and a Jameshon shot deep and I'm quite emotional. I hope Gregg's coments are showbiz, and there will be a surprise reunion somewhere. Now I'm at the Dublin house on 79th and Gamblers Roll is blasting. Am I happy or sad? I just don't know.

Boyton, let it out....
I thought I was at my last show back in March, and began whimpering when the first few notes rang out in the great Beacon towards the end of the second set.
I thought I was going to completely break down, but held it together somewhat.
My wife kind of understood what was going on, a couple of friends we were with just didn't get it, and the other couple of friends we were with got it completely....the pair that got it are raging music fans and understood what I was feeling.
I've been making the trek down to NYC for so many years with people I love, and so much has changed in my life over the years (mostly very positive things), and all the emotion just built up.

Was lucky enough to get tix for the finale on the 28th, and have a sneaking suspicion that I'll be up to my old emotional self that night! It'll be end of something I consider very significant and special in my life.

I have no doubt when my tears stream the lights will illuminate the audience. At Lockn' it was dark enough for me to wipe my tear streaked dust stained cheeks without anyone noticing.

What are you gonna do?

Man, I think of so many people, so many different times - heck I remember the sound of the needle dropping on the Fillmore album.

It's really pretty cool that art can make us feel so much.

Porkchopbob - I followed the link to your site. Your "Ok, The Allman Brothers Band..." animation is really clever! I enjoyed it and shared it with my friends that are going with me to the two final shows. Good stuff!
