My SIL is a fan of music. Classical, Jazz and Opera are her favorites. I am introducing her to the Brothers, one step at a time. The time has come to take that giant leap-to "At Fillmore East" I want to get her the original CD-not the Deluxe edition or 'The Fillmore Concerts. I want the basic CD. Is it still available? I see many expensive imports but I don't want those. Amazon seems to have a 'remastered' version'. Is that the one I want?

To be quit honest...I think you would be doing yourself a disfavor in not getting this...

It is the original. It has been remastered. And, it was done correctly.
Imo, it's hands down better than The Fillmore Concerts. And for me...a big reason is because it's the original release.
Ymmv...

This should be the version that you are looking for.

If you want to ease her into it get her an original vinyl off of ebay in at least VG condition. Then once she is hooked introduce her to the new complete Fillmore Concerts as I disagree with the person who claims the Deluxe Edition sounds better. I ahve a copy of just about every release of the Fillmore shows and the new Fillmore complete sounds amazing IMHO.

By getting the Deluxe Edition, mentioned above, you get all the original album plus the live tracks from "Eat A Peach" this includes Mountain Jam. On this version, the Whipping Post/Mountain Jam is over 50 minutes without the interruption of changing discs.

"Eat a Peach" would also be a good choice. If you get the deluxe edition of that, you get the entire June 26, 1971 concert on an additional disc.

Either of the Deluxe Editions ( Fillmore East or East a Peach) will be about $50 cheaper than the new 6 disc set. And starting off someone new to the ABB with 5 different live shows may be a little much.
