Im pretty sure the intro to I Feel Fine is a bass line

Brick House
Mystery Achievement
The Lesh bomb opening of The Other One always had an undeniable impact
Winner winner, chicken dinner!!

While we are thinking of bass lines a little further into the song rather than straight openings, I love it on Les Brers after the intro.

Living In the Past - Tull

It's not played on a bass guitar, but the bass line to Seven Nations Army by the White Stripes now has to be among the most recognizable in rock history. Per wiki, it's a "bass-like riff that Jack White created by connecting a semi-acoustic guitar to a DigiTech Whammy Pedal that had been lowered one octave."

L.A. Woman

N.I.B. - Black Sabbath

Larry Graham on Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) by Sly and The Family Stone. Great bass line.

Dragging the Line, Tommy James
Rock On, David Essex

great calls, man that intro to Rock On is some spooky stuff

just thought of Spanish Moon this morning
surprised it wasn't mentioned yet
(btw favorites mentioned so far are The Other One and Barney Miller)

A few very memorable bass lines in the intros of songs are "Lowdown" by Boz Scaggs, "ManEater" by Hall & Oates, and Rush's "The Body Electric."

Dead Babies - Alice Cooper
Gutter Cat vs The Jets - Alice Cooper
Blue Turk - Alice Cooper
Grande Finale -= Alice Cooper
Unfinished Sweet - Alice Cooper
Sick Things - Alice Cooper
Dennis Dunaway is one of greatest bassists in rock history and somehow doesn't get the credit. Similar to Berry in many ways as both were/are very busy players. And both came up with such memorable parts.
The bass/drums on all the original Alice Cooper albums are so amazing. After the original band broke up and the Billion Dollar Babies band faded. It amazed me that no one picked up Dennis Dunaway and Neil Smith.

Psycho Killer - Talking Heads - love Tina on bass.....

Funky #7 - Hot Tuna

Have not seen The Byrds' "8 Miles High"!?!?!?!?!

Not an intro but Gerald Johnson's bass line throughout Shu Ba Da Du Ma Ma Ma Ma by Steve Miller is simply incredible. (Appeared on the release The Joker)
"Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

I just came in here to say the same thing!

Yep a fine call alright, as you said not an intro but that little lefty bassist Gerald drives the song from the start, and plays a solo in there too - that whole side, w/Sugar Babe etc is fantastic, Steve Miller morphed from blues/psyche rock to more ‘mainstream’ as well as anyone
-
Roger Glover’s solo in Pictures of Home (from Machine Head) is about as long as Gerald’s on Shu bada du Mamama - so bomb so bomb - always wished Roger’s coulda gone a little longer
As you said the bass playing Smokes on Shu badadu mama, & same is true of Lamar thruout Left Turn (We 3) - he’s the star o’ that show
Can’t think of any other bomb intro lines

Whipping Post would be my obvious choice but I also love the bass in the opening of Black Sabbath's War Pigs.
If you were asking me what my favorite bass line is in any song I would say Chris Squire's bass line in the song Roundabout is about as good as it gets for me as far as bass playing.

I'm surprised Sweet Emotion didn't pop up.
Here's a few...
Bending Like A Willow Tree - Albert Collins
No One Came - Deep Purple (is Richie in there too?)
Songs Of Yesterday - Free (just beautiful/technically drums, but I just love the bass groove)

:DTremendous mentions/links - Greg Lake’s intro to Tank, from ELP’s first album, came to mind - his playing is off the charts on that song

Some Kind Of Wonderful

I can think of plenty of Government Mule songs.Thorazine Shuffle,Funny little Tragedy,& of cause Mule. All 3 bass players for the Mule have been great. Jorgen Carlsson the longest tenured of them is amazing.

Don’t step on the grass Sam.

Songs Of Yesterday - Free (just beautiful/technically drums, but I just love the bass groove)
Fantastic number

Clown - The Flock

Not the first notes, but Barry Oakley's sweet playing at the beginning of "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" is just a perfect intro of sorts to an epic song. I especially love the version on "Live At The Fillmore East."

Had forgotten about the intro to the CDB song Alligator - it’s one of their songs about backwoods rednecks etc a large Legend of Wooley Swamp - great bass intro on Alligator
