I'm not gonna make it much longer either, especially if this set break goes much more. Gotta dig post holes and install a fence in my yard tomorrow.

i love watching phil play bass

I'm watching the stream and I like Trey's playing.

close your eyes and listen

Sounds like Trey made me and other Phish fans proud at this show
Whether you like Phish music or not, Trey is a musician's musician and worked very hard to prepare for this show.
A friend bought the stream package, and while I couldn't make it to his house last night, I'm thinking about joining him tonight. Since he is a big Deadhead and not as much a Phish fan, I wonder what he thought about Trey's playing last night.

1st set. Thank you!

Just hopped on the youtube stream and that was a rockin Alabama Getaway

Fare Thee Well
Celebrating 50 Years of Grateful Dead

Hell In A Bucket
What I caught was sounding really good.

Weir tried giving some hand signal during the Hell jam. Trey was like possessed or something, ignored him and kept jamming. Good version of Hell and perhaps a good sign for set #2. If I can keep awake.

Excellent Hell in The Bucket.
Watching tonight and last night.
Good shows, very tight(as partly demonstrated by the short time spent deciding where to go next between songs-LOL)kinda restrained, and long set break, appropriate for us older folk being forced to work and stay awake at night!
Setlist last night early Dead,so far tonight it's more 80's type show.
Phil is the spiritual and musical center and he seems to do most of the musical communication with Trey.Trey is doing an excellent job, keeping it in check, but playing with great fluidity and respect for Jerry's musical intent.
Bob,who IMHO often gets too much grief for his guitar playing and singing, seems to be barely hanging on at times, but getting by at the same time.
He went deeply off the tracks IMO,during Black Peter. He wasnt singing-wasn't even screaming...desperate yelps, cries for help perhaps? Who knows, but it sounded ugly. His attempt at slide playing was painful and was almost covered up by a great groove going between Phil,Trey, and the rest of the band(with Hornsby and the other Furthur organ/piano player low in the mix) but in the end, they decided to just cut the song short. They got back to it with Hell in the Bucket and ended the set.Hopefully Bobby will settle back in more quietly!
Overall, despite this bump in the road,an enjoyable experience, and a nice feeling. Not the GD but excellent, albeit restained shows so far...may change in set 2 or in Chicago.Trey has been very good, the right choice for these type shows.Phil is a monster...very dominant.
Enjoy the ride!

Nice Mississippi Half Step to open 2nd.
Trey quite melodic and beautiful-playing his own way,but always in the spirit of all ways of playing Dead so far......organ way sweet too....Phil all over he fret board in a very nice way!
Pretty colors/stage lights....g.

That jam between Half Step and Wharf Rat was awesome.

Stretching out a bit more...nice jam on WR now

Phil is the king of transitions in jams...and once there Trey kicks in nicely...Bob's playing is perfect for a Dead sensibility and Mickey on the slide thing? is ool...Mickeys playing the air is nice too....
Eyes.

Wonderful how relevant the uplifting feeling this song gives, particularly the jam,led off by he piano, joined by great rhythm from both guitarists and Phil's melodic, rhythmic, thundering, bopping bass lines. The drummers are sounding well too.
As I said before, tight, but beginning to open up a bit more....Treys feel is wonderful

Jeff was doing some nice work on keyboard during the jam out of Wharf Rat. Was low in the mix but I'm glad I found it. Hornsby is adding some nice piano to this Eyes.

He's Gone...he surely is...but our faces still can be stolen 😉
