I'm listening to the Jack Straw now.
My thoughts are that Trey is playing a lot more notes in this song than Jerry did. Not good. Not bad. Just an observation.
It sounds good and I do think he is lifting the band.

Is that Trey singing on Bertha?

Yes that is Trey singing.

He's having a blast and it shows, constantly smiling, hopping around.

Any guesses for the one two punch in tonight's second set?
China > Rider?
Scarlet > Fire?
Let us know when they go back live Bhawk... please.

So they have 5 hours of intermission music so they clearly intend to keep up with the hour breaks.

Ya, got ya covered.
I'm thinking Help>Slip>Franklin's opens the second set. Or Shakedown. Maybe. Perhaps.

Which is, by the way, absolutely kicka$$. I'd like to buy it if they release it.

I always like a Help > Slip > Franklins...
Help On the Way has always paved my path with good things.

Wish the second set would hurry up and start! I ordered the PPV for the next two nights on directv but for tonight this will have to do.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but this is just way too much Trey for me. I can't believe how much they are raving about this on the phil zone.

I'm not minding the Crazy Fingers... sounds pretty good.
I'll have to check out the Phil Zone... Are they raving about Trey? Phil is stepping up pretty good from what I'm hearing.

Trey is the best musician in this band outside of Hornsby in everyone's current state. He should be out front.

I hear ya, but it's a no win situation for anyone, IMO. Too much is too much, not enough is not trying hard enough to hold down that end of the sound.

IMO, Bill Kreutzmann is and always will be the key, the engine, the driver, and he's doing it once again.

I agree with that. I am not slamming the show, there are moments in here for sure but I am not closing my eyes and thinking I am back in 77 or anything like that. I am fully aware that tons of people both at the show and all around with the streams are having fun listening to this right now.

Of the living members yes it was Bill and Phil.

Second set can start any time now.....

'77 I was more likely to be at a Skynard show. I didn't get my first Grateful Dead show until '78. I started listening to the albums in '76 but didn't even have a good collection of live tapes going until '79.

I like the Shamanic stuff Mickey shakes out... Always have.

Musicians are on stage and noodling and tuning.

I wonder if Sirius will be closer to live now?

Mason's Children!

Nice opener.
Back on Phish Fiend...

Trey had a nice solo. Phil quit singing please!

Scarlet Begonias

Phil has to sing Mason's Children... got to croak out those old tales... 😉

Beautiful explorations here...

We have a Scarlet>Fire!
