I had the original RD Custom, in 1977. Nothing special about it

In this case just depends on if you like the unique body shape. Epiphone has always made a decent affodable workingman's axe, clean lines, good necks - if you shell out extra bucks and have them set up by a pro,, you get a great guitar.

True!!! That's all I have are Epi's, cant afford the Gibson price tag. The only thing I have ever done was swap out PUP's and tuners. Have had many compliments.

Hey jzfunk a friend of mine has an original Gibson RD Artist. He picked it up for a song I guess because of the unusual shape. He changed out the pick ups and uses it on about every gig as his Eb guitar. For those of y'all looking my prediction for the next Gibson model that could be undervalued would be the Blues Hawk. Keep your eyes open.

The best bass I've ever had is a modified Epiphone thunderbird. changed neck, tuners, bridge. incredible axe.

Cool! Thunderbirds are one "bad" looking instrument!

About ten years ago I had an Epi scroll. That was a great guitar, very well built, solid and I loved the neck on it. For some reason I got rid of it,what a dummy!!! 😛
