Duane’s SG sells for $591K

Don’t know who bought it. Bid stayed at $320K for a couple days then a bit of a frenzy at the end.

I wish Derek had it.

If I had the money I would buy this and Duane's Goldtop and gift them to Galadrielle to go with the 2- Duane Les Paul's she has owns. She should own them all.

Galadrielle did give Derek Trucks her Gibson SG Brother to Brother custom shop replica. Last I read Derek began using it as his number one and still does. Not sure where she got it.
Dickey got two and gave one to Duane Betts. Well not sure he gave it to Duane Betts. Duane Betts has several guitars Dickey has played over the years and in his latest gear interview Duane said they are "family" guitars that he and his dad share. Duane showed 3 to the man. A 2001 Dickey Betts custom shop gold top Les Paul. A 1955 Fender Stratocaster hard tail and a 1961 Gibson ES-335 dot neck.
The "brother to brother" SG guitars are exact replicas of the guitar Graham Nash sold. Even a belt buckle scratch mark on the back and the holes where the whammy bar use to be are there. Derek Trucks said his is light and sounds real good and it was touching Galadrielle gave it to him.
But the original, the one Duane actually played, should be hers. I think she has the tobacco burst Les Paul that was his number one when he died. Supposedly Duane only played the SG on slide and not every night.
On that gear show Devon Allman showed a few of Gregg's guitars with a Strat Gregg played in the early 1970's as his favorite. He said Gregg owned 42 guitars when he died and he gave all of them to Devon. A Tele and a Johnny Cash acoustic custom by Martin where two more Devon really likes he showed the man. I don't seem to remember Gregg playing a Tele.

I stopped bidding at $550K. You have to draw the line somewhere 😉 😉 😉 .

I don't seem to remember Gregg playing a Tele.
Gregg definitely played a few Strats he played electric guitar. But here he is with a Tele

Thanks Porkchopbob. Yes there is Gregg playing a Tele. And it looks like the very one Devon is playing on some songs with Allman Betts Band. And the one Devon showed the man on the gear segment.
Gregg had 42 guitars. I would enjoy seeing all of them.
One of Duane's favorite guitars was a Tele but it had a Strat neck. It was his number one before the ABB was formed but it was stolen.
Warren Haynes, who usually plays a Les Paul, had a Strat he loved and played on several songs with the ABB in his early years with the band. It was red with a red headstock and Eric Clapton lazer pickups. It especially sounded fantastic when Warren played slide. But it too was stolen. Alan Paul said great effort was used to find it at many of the guitar stores across the country but it never surfaced. Guitar stealing is as bad as horse and cattle rustling. HANG 'UM!!
