Close to sold out in Buffalo, NY and the BEACON THEATRE IN MANHATTAN!!
They asked Devon Allman about his choice of guitar out of the 43 he inherited from Gregg.
Said he went through periods of playing one of Gregg's Les Pauls and one of his Stratocasters but in recent months Devon is exclusively on one of Gregg's SG guitars except for a white Gibson acoustic Gregg owned.
Duane Betts was switching between three of Dickey's guitars. A 2001 Les Paul Gold Top Dickey Betts Signature model, a 1961 ES-335 dot neck and a 1956 Stratocaster hard tail.
But now for electric he is settled down on just the Gold Top Les Paul Dickey signature guitar. And he has a couple of Dickey's acoustics with him.
Devon and Duane both talked about how the band has two albums out and has a good following. ( I have the feeling the Allman Betts Band is not currently their focus but it is still together)
But nothing on Berry Oakley. I guess if he's not with the band now we aren't going to know why.
Going to the Boston Orpheum show this Friday. Surprisingly still plenty of tickets left on Live Nation, especially in the balcony, but I expect there will be last minute attendees like there was the last two tours I saw.
I respect the members of the band keeping whatever conflicts they have private. No need for them to air their dirty laundry and certainly none of our business. Still makes me sad that Berry will not be at the Orpheum concert.
