The mere fact that Derek had more and longer solos makes this true. Too many people stirring the stew in TTB

For some reason, it just fell out of fashion to sound like the Taliban Trucks Band. 😛

Check out Steve Vai, he can wank on guitar for hours and even does some neat tricks you'd probably love like playing behind his head and right-handed tapping technique.

Your assumption that I do not know of Steve Vai and his techniques is a presumptuous conclusion.

Taste is subjective, so this thread is like arguing if chocolate ice cream is better than strawberry.

I prefer the TTB because i love the blend of flavors. I love the vibe. I think their shows are perfectly paced.

I will bring food back in to the discussion. I loved the DTB but at times parts of it felt excessive. I am an overeater and will eat pizza to the point where i realize i shouldnt have had the last two slices, although they were awesome. Burp. Waddle home.

The TTB shows are like ordering the tasting menu at a 5 star restaurant, where you get numerous smaller but delicious portions, each with really different savory flavors, not leaving you overstuffed but instead perfectly satisfied, wishing to go back the next day.

Susan is like anchovies to me. I care not for either of them musically. She is a very nice person but I prefer the music of the DTB over Rhythm and Blues stuff any day of the week.

Goes way back to all the Ali Akbar Khan stuff. It's all coming up in a NCIS episode. ISIS tries to steal Duane's guitar from Derek as they believe it has magical powers. It can take over the minds of Americans with it's sweet tones. Sorry for the spoiler.

You visit the site and take a dump on like 10 threads, and hate on TTB's safe playing.

Then you post that your upcoming shows are:

Springsteen
Gregg
The Who

Digging the deep instrumental jams of Bruce, GA, and The Who, are you?

actually,I think that was a joke.

thats the episode where they also believe that guitar 'magically' transforms Derek into the image of Duane again...mesmerizing audiences thru his masterful playing.

still miss the bass playing of Smallie in dtb,Madsens longer vocals, the percussionist & drummer...not to take away from ttb at all, just really liked what dtb created a lot & what seemed to be a looser feel & free sounding & space,if that makes sense. I saw them a few times & really miss them, there's no one else doing that particular thing that I've seen since unfortunately.

Out of order!!! Say what you want about Susan, but I won't have a word said about anchovies musically.

Okay, they are no Herring or Sardinas but, if there was no anchovies, there would be no Rock which feeds on them.

And in keeping with the spirit of James's remark about a BH skit...would that be the African or European DTB? 😉

Jazz fan: Miles, why don't you play like you used to play?

Miles: How did I used to play?

Besides, as the true believers know, the four piece, nearly all instrumental, DTB was the best!

😛 ha ha etc

X2

Longer solos does not equate to "better".

The big thing here is that what DT is doing is what DT wants to do. It's his choice.

What do you mean? Derek has no right to do anything other than what a handful of fans want. 😛

Actually, I thought the small DTB was limiting. He now has a slew of musicians to play off of. It is obvious that Derek enjoys that aspect. I expect somewhere down the road that Derek may move on to something else. He doesn't appear to be someone who will allow his music to become stale.

We have a couple of Limey's posting in this thread, so let et's not mix up our English comedians... you are referring to Monty Python, not Benny Hill.

HUGE DTB fan. That said, I'm glad they moved on.

Big TTB fan. Musical maturity across the board in my opinion.

Just not sure why the DTB can't have an annual residency for a week or so around NYE or specific time frame. I know that Todd and Yonrico would have to make things happen on their end. By why not play 5 times a year for the die hards?

Thanks for not taking me too seriously for the most part. I like to stir up the pot once in a while. TTB was great at the Christmas Jam but I will always love the DTB a lot better. Hate me for it if you must but I still love you all.

Nobody hates you. You're just an instigator, and people generally tend to like that, a lot. What is the point of posting something that has been discussed to the point of making everyone want to puke? Also, longer solos make a band better? The collective improve is what made the DTB so great. (personally, I think both bands are/were great...they're just different)

Also, when anyone on this site can do a single thing in their lives as good as Derek Trucks can play the guitar.......at that point, and at ONLY that point will this nonsense be taken seriously.
