I think Jack should be give the title, deed and keys to this song!  I've seen/heard him play it several occasions.  I think he owns it!

Outstanding Dreams solo by Jack. It's real cool Jack borrowed Duane's bird chirps and just like Duane he held his slide in his right hand. Supposedly that is one of Duane's slides. Jack said it is supposed to be. Jack said when Gregg called and said Warren and Woody have decided to leave will you join? Jack said yes. He was told to go to Dickey's house in Florida. After he and Dickey played and talked Jack said Dickey got up and left the room for awhile and when he returned Dickey said as far as he was concerned Jack had the gig and presented Jack with a glass slide Dickey said was one of Duane Allman's.

When Duane was there Dickey didn't solo on this. Sometimes Berry Oakley would. But Dickey does a nice spacy solo here minus what may be a couple of minor bobbles. But I listened with my headphones wide open and you can tell Dickey's Marshall amps are real loud!!! That is why Jack had to leave. Jack's ears couldn't take it and his ears began to ring even with ear plugs. Jack said Dickey had a lot of good night's and really took off on his solos and Dickey was one of his heros and he loves Dickey to death so it was very disappointing when he had to quit because of his ears. Even today Jack has to be careful with his hearing or the ringing will return.

Also Jack Pearson according to Gregg can copy any guitar player's style and in addition Jack practices often with coming up with new licks for the guitar and Jack's bag of tricks is most extensive. Like Jeff Beck, Jack Pearson plays all over the guitar and throws in some of the wildest licks.

I'm all for at least on ABB release from the archives when Jack was in the band.

First time I saw Jack play was in 1997 just after he and Otiel joined and Jack and Dickey were bringing the heat. One of the best post Duane ABB shows for me. And Jack singing Dimples was the icing on the cake.

What a great way to start this Snowy Saturday morning. Jack can play with the best of them. His sound and ability to make music is amazing. I wish he would have been able to stay in the band longer, but when it comes down to hearing loss and playing music in this band he made the right choice. Thanks for sharing some of his great work! Maybe there will be a category in the Rock Hall of Fame for Pinch Hitter Guitar players. If so, Jack Pearson gets my vote!

Yep Jack is incredible player. Lucky enough to see him play Dreams with Les Brers, my last show with Butch an Jack on lead.

Thanks for sharing this often duplicated song played so well with Jack & Dickey.

Another fine version of Statesboro Blues with Jack from a year earlier 1997

Thanks for posting

thst belongs in the Dreams Hall of Fame

I’d put Jack up against anyone

he sat in with DTB on their final tour. This is sacrilege but IMO that Key to the Highway beats the album version.
