Wacked-out, nut-job, crazy as they come and all that jazz. Say what ya want, but he produced some of the finest music of a generation and a sound that was often as imitated as possible.
This was the AP headline I saw about his passing this morning...
Phil Spector, famed music producer and murderer, dies at 81
Certainly got my attention.
From the "Wrecking Crew" documentary:
Yes he was an amazing sound man on legendary albums. He murdered an unarmed woman and then blamed it on her.
Phil Spector was a legendary producer. He was a man out of control, it appears, for a lengthy period of time. I'm not here to formulate judgement. He was a man that understood music and was able to help musicians and bands realize potential they may not have recognized on their own. We should celebrate his volume of work despite all the outside reality.
@owencarol Sometimes, we need to separate the art from the artist. It's not always easy to do.
According to the evening news, cause of death was Covid 19.
