Intergalactic Laxative!

I could see them tearing up Hurdy Gurdy Man pretty good.

If you've ever seen the movie Zodiac they used Hurdy Gurdy Man (the original) and it sounded pretty spooky. You are probably right

would have to think the boys were familiar w/Boogaloo Joe Jones' version as well as Donovan's --

If anyone reading this hasn't checked out Boogaloo Joe Jones version of the Mountain Jam which came well before our favorite band was formed then you really should.....

It would seem HE should have been given a writing credit.

Yes he is playing First There Is A Mountain at the beginning then into some jazz guitar on a riff he seems to repeat to the end, I didn't hear anything that indicated the ABB was influenced with on the Eat A Peach version.

Years ago we used to hear from time to time Dickey and Jerry Garcia were jamming back stage at a show to the Donovan song. It would be interesting to know if Jerry or Dickey were familiar with Boogalou Joe Jones' recording or Jones doing this live.

I enjoyed being exposed to Boogaloo's version.

Perhaps a credit for the arrangement would be more in order. Obviously he didn't teach Duane & Dickey their solos. But it sure looks he recorded his "idea" long before Duane or Jerry had theirs.
