Don Was interview about Last Waltz tour and Gregg's new album

We figured if it was done it would be out. Makes you wonder, since most of it is likely covers, it can't take
that long...can it???
All compositions arranged by .... The Voice and Friends.
Wish someone would leak it

What's weird - well, not "weird", pretty typical actually - is there was so much buzz about the album when they went to FAME Studios last year and then total radio silence. The album pre-order went up almost immediately last year with a repeatedly advertised Jan 2017 release date. I imagine there were big plans for a Fall/Winter promotion (or even pick-up recording sessions) that were derailed after Gregg's latest health scare last Summer/Fall, but it's odd that there have been no updates just to say "sorry for the delay, folks".

Sadly, I don't find the lack of communication odd at all.

Yeah, totally, like I said, pretty typical.

Is Gregg a perfectionist or a procrastinator?
I don't mean to belittle the health concerns that have been in his way. I just wonder if the delay is his intense need to get the recording right or if it is a lack of discipline regarding the completion of the work.

I assumed it was supposed to come out in January and then those January tour dates got cancelled so it just got moved back to come out when he is about to tour again later in the year.
After what Don Was said, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Perhaps i'm wrong, but i tend to look at this situation a bit differently.First,i don't believe Gregg needs to communicate with fans about release dates-heck,this isn't life or death-so we get the album at a later date-for me it's all cool-i'm happy to listen whenever the artist releases an album-no explanations or apologies needed.(I can't imagine this discussion going on at the Dylan forums! LOL-i guess that's the nature of the intimacy fans feel here towards Gregg-like family we tend to be overly critical at times)
I think Gregg gets alot of ball busting over the years-as we know these guys aren't around forever & i'm choosing to cherish them & their music, whenever it comes & in whatever format.I'm just so grateful Gregg is alive & still doing his music.

Well, I was only referring to those who had pre-ordered and paid for the album. I'm not personally demanding any updates, Gregg can take all the time in the world as far as I'm concerned, but figured since some people had already ponied up their dough, there might be some communication from the record company to assure customers that the album wasn't floating in the ether. Nothing critical, I had actually forgotten the album was in the works.

Nobody asked Gregg to do anything. He has a manager, his label has reps that's their responsibility, not his. And they should let the buying public know when they don't reach their own self-appointed release date.
Don't get confused when someone is knocking the lack of communication for thinking that falls on Gregg. (Except all those times in the past when he was obviously just giving the interviewer what they wanted to hear about the potential for upcoming music, then that's on him.)

Great read about one of the most influential people in popular music today. Thanks for posting, sent it out to 20 friends.

I'm interested in listening when it's ready --- and willing to wait until it's so

Anyone heard about what songs are going to be on it, since I assume a majority of the music on it will be covers.
