Don Shula - RIP

As a kid, I was always a Miami Dolphins fan for two reasons: 1) they always had players from the University of Alabama, and 2) Don Shula. Architect of the only perfect NFL season. The man was the greatest! Sad to learn of his passing.

I met Don, shook his hand and had time for one question back in the late 90s in San Diego. He was a guest speaker at function I attended and as he was striding towards the designated room with his entourage, I approached, introduced myself and asked this question "Do you think your undefeated season will stand the test of time"?. He stopped, looked at me and answered," I sure hope so"...and continued on his way....
R.I.P. Coach

He was a legend. What a great coach. 90 years old.
Just saw recently on Sports Center Matt Keough, a former pitching great for the Oakland Athletics died at 64.
And country singer Cady Groves died in Nashville at age 30.

Life can truly be strange sometimes. I have been going through all sorts of boxes tucked away in storage. A couple of boxes and filled with newspapers for various reasons. As I was going through them, I came across all the papers from Miami when he retired. I used to spend a month or two per year down there so was there for the Shula media blitz.
All the newspapers had Entire Extra Papers dedicated to Shula front to back. So I bought a copy of each. So many great articles and pictures.
I find it so strange that after having this box tucked away all these years that I open it and go through some of the papers and he dies that day. I had not thought about Shula, those newspapers in years.
Life is strange. Love Him/Hate Him - Doesn't matter as he was a Legend.
