Does Anyone remember the ABB Holtine ?
I remember in the early to mid 90's there was a phone number on the inside of "An Evening With 1st set"(maybe other releases, but that one I think for sure) where there was a "hotline" number you could call for band info. I am not sure what made me remember, but it just for some reason crossed my mind this weekend. I believe it was Kirk's voice on the record message,
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,
Yes I called it once a week. And you are right. It was Kirk West who operated the hotline. And I too remember the hotline number listed on the First Set CD
Seem to recall they put the hotline # in the HTN Magazines as well - really enjoyed those mags, the article on Gram Parsons was/is one of the best
Howdy Boys and Girls, You've reached the Allman Brothers band Hotline.........
Also, the Mushroom Signal! That giant, mushroom projection into the sky - beckoning fans to assemble! Anybody remember that?
I remember calling it sometime in 1994 and Kirk said the band was going
to play western Canada(!). I just about fell over. Eventually we flew out to
Alberta for the concerts in Calgary and Edmonton.
Howdy Boys and Girls, You've reached the Allman Brothers band Hotline.........
Yes! I used to call just to hear Kirk's voice when I couldn't reach him for a while/
Greetings,
Yes I remember the hot line completely! Back before the days of the inner web thingy that's how I used to get tour dates. I still have the number somewhere! I was going to write about the: "Howdy Boys and Girls, You've reached the Allman Brothers band Hotline" but it took me this long to get my password all set up again for the new sight and such! Fun memories.
