That's the best kind, doesn't matter how much money you or Dickey or anyone has or doesn't have. Be authentic.
What did he pay for the home? Sometimes I think it is misleading when people use assets, like home values for instance, to imply "look what this person can afford", well with the housing appreciation, if he bought it for $750,000 and it appreciated to $3.8 million that isn't the same thing as buying it for $3.8 million. I recently got into a discussion with somebody about a politician's net worth, the implication was "how did they get so rich in politics" - well a big part of the answer was the appreciation of their assets, mainly a home in Massachusetts, not some shenanigans as was the assertion.
So back to Dickey, I hope he and his family loved that home and created wonderful memories there. What year did he buy it?

@nebish I think he bought it around 1990. Dickey was being asked about his guitars and amps and Dickey mentioned he recently finally bought a big house with a boat and dock and swimming pool plus a guest house. Gregg Allman stayed in the guest house for awhile and Duane Betts more recently. The guest house became known as The Palmetto Motel and now Duane Betts calls his solo band Palmetto Motel.Â
Dickey said in the interview he owned about 40 guitars and they were all over the house. Didn't keep them in one particular room.Â
In 2000 when Dickey was ousted from the band by Butch and Gregg, Gregg said it wasn't about money and that Dickey was worth more money than anyone in the band. It was about a man's vices and attitude becoming so difficult it was either break up or suspend Dickey with instructions to get some help. They sent him a fax.Â
I was surprised to hear Dickey was worth the most money and it had to be all the song writing/publishing. Starting with Brothers and Sisters, Dickey wrote or co-wrote most of the songs.Â
I did some digging and if this is correct when Dickey was ousted from the band in 2000 he was worth $40 million dollars and Gregg was $15 million. Of course Gregg went into bankruptcy in the early 80's. Apparently had more debts than assets.Â
Nobody in the Allman Brothers Band made the kind of money the big time players. Clapton is supposed to have a net worth of $475 million and Keith Richards $500 million for example. Joe Walsh is $60 million.Â
