I have not heard anything since the last update.

Mr Spero posted that his condition was improving. He is now resting at home. He has a ways to go, but he's doing well.

Last I read, he was moved out of ICU to rehab. Her was alert & conversational, but it was a serious injury and will take time to heal. He was really happy to hear people were thinking about him.

He is one tough bird, mentally & physically. I hope we get some periodic updates, too. Duane hasnt said anything on his Facebook page lately, other than to comment on a pic of Devon with Dickey, where Devon posted “my Uncle is more of a badass than your Uncle!”. Now that aint wrong!

October 29th, WMNF a tribute to Aretha in Bradenton. And Twinkle, former singer with Dickey's Great Southern Band is there performing! So he better hurry up and get better. There are shows to go to!

Just saw a Facebook post by David Spero saying Dickey is going home. Great news!

Great news indeed -- on schedule for a full recovery, hopefully he continues to feel better all the time

He was originally scheduled to be on the southern rock cruise in January, which I'll be on. Not sure if he'll be doing that now. He might need time to get better.

Dickey just had basically brain surgery after a stroke. Don't be surprised if he does not play live again.

I usually don't write about my personal life here on this site but an older relative of mine had the same surgery after a stroke, and they were in better health than Dickey is and just a few years older. They had good and bad days, but required home health care and were not mobile all the time, and had memory issues as well.

Thanks for the info Newt. Sorry to hear about your relative. Dickey has one thing going for him many people dont...an iron will. The guy just doesnt fold. Look at that pic of him sitting there, fresh out of the hospital with his son-in-law Frank Hannon from Tesla. He just had f’n brain surgery and all he wants to do is beat the hell out what is slowing him down and pick up that guitar. Impressive as hell, whether he plays again for the public or not.
