Dickey Betts Postpones Upcoming Tour Dates
For Immediate Release:
Citing health concerns, Dickey Betts has been forced to postpone the next three dates that he was scheduled to perform on August 28 at the Great New York State Fair in Syracuse, NY; August 30 at the Toyota Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, CT; and August 31 at the Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach, NH.
Betts, a Grammy-winning guitarist, singer and songwriter, and a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, had recently experienced what his doctors called a “mild stroke.” Yesterday, after describing to his physicians certain post-stroke repercussions, he was strongly advised to give himself more time to recuperate.
Doctors have assured Betts that after three to five weeks he will be 100 percent recovered and can resume his touring schedule.
“Dickey really regrets that he can’t be there for his fans,” says his manager David Spero “but he has to take care of his health first.”
Betts is hoping to work with promoters to reschedule the dates in Wallingford, CT, and in Hampton Beach, NH. His tour is expected to resume November 1 at the Bell Auditorium in Augusta, GA.
Joining Betts in the current lineup of his band are his son Duane Betts on guitar, bassist Pedro Arevalo, drummers Frankie Lombardi and Steve Camilleri as well as guitarist Damon Fowler and keyboardist Mike Kach.

Let’s hope that he does get back to 100. He needs to take it easy as those are some serious concerns.
Dickey should take some time and get some additional tests and medical opinions.
I'm not happy about any of this.
If Dickey spends the rest of his time hunting and fishing I'm good with that.

He can live out the rest of life knowing he has accomplished being a musical composer , musical master , a leader, a unquie and caring individual, a founding member of the greatest band in the land , a loving father and husband . He has given me the secret to musical Clarity and a grand appreciation for hearing his unquie tone and style and I luv it and him..

So much for our Syracuse show, the only one of the three that can't be rescheduled.
I have a ticket for the CT show. I was coming on the site to get psyched and now this.

This says it all, along with griffs hunting and fishing comment. If Mr. Betts or someone in his circle happens across this I hope he sees rainys post. I can't add anything, other than get well and feel better, and take it easy.
This is extremely serious, and in a different thread about him someone posted about how he had strokes before the concerts in FL and Macon, GA.
I hope he recovers, and if that includes resting and never playing live again I am fine with this.
If anyone who knows him is reading this tell him we said thank you for the decades of wonderful music that is the soundtrack to our lives, and putting on great concerts through the decades.
When everybody was talking about how bad Dickey sounded after the Macon show and wondering why they were forcing a filmed show for a DVD that just didn't make any sense, I was left wondering if he was filming a show because he didn't have much time left due to some undisclosed health issue. Maybe that's why they filmed that show. It's the only thing that does make sense to me.
