Dickey Betts on "Almost Famous"

A very enjoyable read:

Thanks Jim. That was interesting and funny somewhat.
Went to Duane Betts Facebook page last night for first time in a few weeks. Duane posts new and old pictures on his page.
Noticed he put a picture of Dickey and Jerry Garcia together I had not seen. And a new picture of Duane Betts and Devon Allman standing together on Dickey's boat out in the water and Dickey with sunglasses and a white beard is operating it.
It was good to see 76 year old Dickey looking okay and enjoying himself.

Yes thanks Jim for the link. To me, Almost Famous carried that very specific theme just underneath the storyline that was about the darker side of touring life in its heyday. I remember seeing it at the movie theater and thinking "there's Dickey!"
I enjoyed Rolling Stone back in the day but it just got to political for my taste. I enjoy the sagas. Don Felder's book was a crazy tale, as was Gregg's and the Willie Perkins book also. Willie Moseley's authorized ARS book was a testament to one of the best group of musicians to ever come out of the South (I learned that the "live" Are You Ready album was actually recorded at Studio One in Doraville with crowd noise added to the mix!).
One could only hope that while Mr Dickey Betts is enjoying his retirement, he would write it all down for us to read someday. Dude's my hero.
I sincerely hope that all are winning against this virus. It has taken two of my friends, both after horrible symptoms. Stay safe all!
Didn't mean to hijack your thread.....

Here you go Dobro.
I saw them several times and mostly when I was in Atlanta and Barry Bailey was always strong on electric guitar. I understand he is completely retired now.
