Dickey Betts interview

Never heard this one....Jim Dorman interview with Dickey Betts from March of 2003 prior to Great Southern's performance at the Cambridge House of Blues.

Hot dog, I went to that show, looking forward to the listen
Was Crowded that night - the venue eventually (thankfully) relocated to more spacious digs

Interesting interview from Dickey. Dickey said " I'm back playing electric slide for the first time in years. With Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks there is no reason for me to play electric slide. I've got my 1956 Fender Stratocaster I'm playing slide on this year".
It's a pretty guitar but I've seen it up close at an Allman Betts show and man does it have the road wear. Neck, body were your right arm touches it and on the back. Someone played that guitar a lot for years.
And here is Dickey playing slide with it!!

My second Billy Joe Shaver shoutout in as many days after AP's interview with Duane yesterday.
I need to check that guy out more

I think I was at this show as well... Standing room only if memory serves me right.

Yep, it was SRO - real good show as recall it - could hardly move w/out bumping into someone tho - it was like that when I saw Jimmy Smith there too - different venue w/the restaurant downstairs & the showroom upstairs - good location right in Hahvid Sq.

my recollection is that they played "come on in my kitchen" after which Dickey said they tried to stay true to the original with just a few extra chords... but this next song I wrote so I can play it any GD way I want! - Blistering Blue Sky ensued...
