Dickey Betts in "Critical" Condition - Brain Surgery

All our love and prayers always. We all love you so much Dickey! We have all taken strength from you for 1/2 a century, it's time for you to take back strength from all of us . Please stay strong and feel better xoxoxoxoxoxox

Wishing Dickey speedy recovery. I'm in my 70s too and sometimes you fall or trip or can't get on your feet as easy as it was just a few years ago.
This is a serious accident and we know Dickey was having trouble this year with age, wear on one's body and a mild stroke. Dickey needs our steadfast prayers.
When I first saw the Allman Brothers I was in my 20s and the band was too.The vibe and power of that band was so unexpected and religious. And Dickey's tone, guitar style and original songs were such an important part of what made the band. Jimmy Herring said several years ago that Dickey's solo on One Way Out on Eat A Peach was a big reason Jimmy got inspired to play. And Jimmy said the tone and energy of that solo ranks among the best ever to his ears.
Dickey Betts is the King of Dixie so said Ronnie Van Zant. Amen Ronnie.

Agree with Mr Herring 100% and the sweet mellow tones he gets from the Les Paul are great.

Hoping Dickey recovers from this. I feared the worst when I first heard.

I'm frustrated with the reporting. Newsapers are throwing around terms.
Head injury, check.
Subdural hematoma? Likely.
When a neurosurgeon can get in to
relieve the pressure people often do well.
Can they just drill a burr hole for an evac,
will they have to do a bone flap?
Will he make it?
What kinda doggo?
I can't bear the thought of losing another brother,
Prayers and healing vibes

Same here.
If Dickey survives this he will never play live again. I keep him and his family in my prayers and I hope that he lives the rest of his life in comfort and peace.

That was one of my thoughts as well. A mild stroke takes its toll on a 74 year-old, but my mother had a similar head injury/surgery and it takes the piss out a person. Hoping Dickey recovers well and rests up. But also, it makes those summer shows with Jaimoe and return to the Beacon even more special.

Today is the surgery based on the initial report. I am hoping for the best. Lot's of silence since the initial announcement

Hopefully we hear some improvement news today.

Supportive thoughts and healing vibes being sent to Dickey and family.

Heal up Mr. Betts! Avoid the dog.

Thanks for posting news about DB sounds great
Big prayers con’t with lots of love

Continuing the good vibes & prayers. Sounds like he’s fighting hard. If you take what Frankie, Mike & Pedro just said, Dickey ain’t goin down with his boots off. If he pulls this off and gets through it all, it’s pretty inspiring. Kinda makes you want to just suck up whatever aches & pains you have and just get on with it.

...and now back to the original thread...I saw where Duane is looking for Bucks/Steelers tickets, so I’m thinking his Daddy is improving or he wouldn't be going to a game (assuming it is in Tampa).
Ok, David Spero....how about an update on The Ramblin’ Man?

God Bless Dickey Betts!

An update from David Spero: Donna just texted me that Dickey is “Off the respirator and doing great! Talking, laughing and, of course, complaining!” We thank you all for your love and prayers. He still has a ways to go.

Thanks for the update harvey, David, Donna et al -- how you go bro, thinking all the best -- continued strong recovery bro

Appreciate the update - sounds as good as can be.

Good news.
