Anybody attend this show? I've seen a couple of videos and Dickey's playing looked better, but I was not at the whole show.

I absolutely think one aspect of his "return" is he simply needs to play. That won't solve everything I suspect, but being off for so long clearly shows. No different than an athlete returning from a long layoff or injury

That Ridgefield has really crummy tincan acoustics. Painful. You'd think with all the $$$ in that area they could afford a decent sound design. Needs baffles, cut the standing waves, padding. Will never go there again, it's that bad.

I have not missed a Dickey Betts tour since he left the ABB, so I’ve seen my share of great shows and, towards the end, some not so great and even downright sad. Reading the reports of this run, I approached the Ridgefield Playhouse show with some trepidation while also being hopeful that he would start to hit his stride. All I can say is, I LOVED it! Dickey was in fine form and just to hear The Man play and sing those incredible tunes, his tone, that signature sound, I found it powerful and emotional just to be in the room with the legend channeling so many years and memories of countless shows, from the Beacon, summer tours, Great Southern. I shed tears of joy more than once. The band sounded great and Duane has come a long way, delivering fine solos on that gold top Les Paul. No technical problems or delays, no train wrecks, no sign of preshow partying, just a tight, powerful 90 minute set, including the expected classics and Midnight Rider.

Sorry to see so much negativity here, but I was very glad for this chance to see and hear Dickey again.

A downside of YouTube is you get all the warts but none of the overall vibe, not a fair way to judge any show, really. I have often come home from a very enjoyable concert and found the on-line clips lame and disappointing, which is why I didn’t watch any of Dickey’s, preferring instead to experience the show live as it unfolded. Right decision.

Opinions are diverse, but there was a lot of negativity from people who weren't at the Macon show, even though the response from people who were there was very positive.

There is only one negative opinion of Betts' performance in this thread. That doesn't qualify as "so much negativity". The only other negative was my opinion of the Ridgefield - based on some other show, zero to do with Dickey Betts.
