Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Thanks again - a Green Onions cover, shaded in deep purple - can’t wait to hear it I love DP

Just saw them in Boston, last night.
The same setlist except we got "Hot 'Lanta" instead of "Green Onions."
Great show!

WOW! Never heard of Purple doing Hot 'Lanta. I bet is was a GREAT rendition.

They are a powerful band no matter who is in it. Just excellent musicians.

Have they always periodically done Green Onions - perhaps in more recent years - yeah was gonna reply likewise to them doing Hot Lanta, WOW -
Green Onions, Hot Lanta, Deep Purple - covers some ground I’d say 😮

Deep Purple playing an ABB cover?
As cool as that sounds, I have a really hard time biting on that one.
I suppose anything is possible. Over 20 Deep Purple shows and I have rarely ever seen them vary from the setlist let alone play an instrument cover song as a one off.

Yes, they have done Green Onions for a while over the past decade as an encore, one of a few rotating songs in their encore pool.
I too am astonished that they would tackle Hot Lanta. Steve Morse certainly does have ABB connections, and the guy can play anything. I would love to hear it!!!

I have to admit that if I hadn't been there to see and hear it, and someone told me they played it (on the ABB forum, no less) I might think that person was just pulling my leg for a laugh.
Here's a shaky audience video I found on YouTube, from the show, with some of "Hot 'Lanta" at the beginning before they went into "Hush."

Wow - too cool - thanks Psy!

LMAO - I love to be proven wrong. Was it just that little bit? Still very cool. Must have been a Steve Morse influence there.
I knew that it must have been true as you know the tune but I was looking around for some April Fools moment.

Just had a phone call from a buddy reading this and he told me that I have seen Deep Purple do it. I was sitting with him when they did it. He has seen DP countless times and sometimes as many as 10 shows per tour. He says that do it often.
I have an even harder time believing that I saw them do it and have no memory of it.
I am always straight and sober by the encores. 😛

wow wow freakin wow!!!!
Thanks for posting !!! Never would have thought in a million years to her DP cover ABB. They sounded great on that!!! Would love to hear a completed full version. Hot Lanta is probably on of my top ABB songs and my fav instrumental that they do.

They played an abbreviated version of the song, (a bit more than what's on that video) so we didn't get the full 5 minute or so like the original.
Still very cool to hear them play it, though. Instantly brought back fond memories of getting to see and hear the ABB play it on that same stage, various times over the years that I got to see them play there.

Watched that again. Still blows me away to see one of my fav bands cover another of my fav bands.
