Legendary British hard rockers DEEP PURPLE have finished tracking their new album, the band's keyboardist Don Airey said in a phone interview with TASS ahead of the band’s concerts in Russia.
"As far as I know, it's all recorded and now," he said. "It's on the tender mercies of [producer] Bob Ezrin; he's going to mix it. I haven't been given a release date. I know nothing about that as yet. If I knew, I'd tell you, but I don't."

DEEP PURPLE's new CD was recorded earlier this year at a studio in Nashville, Tennesse. The follow-up to 2013's "Now What?!" album is once again being helmed by Bob Ezrin, who has previously worked with KISS, PINK FLOYD, PETER GABRIEL, ALICE COOPER and KANSAS, among others.
DEEP PURPLE bassist Roger Glover recently talked about the band's writing process, telling Ultimate Classic Rock: "We jam and jam and jam, and if we find something that we like to play or that works well or inspires us, then we'll try to knock it into some kind of arrangement. Then, once we've got that, Ian [Gillan, vocals] and I will figure out what the song's really all about, and write the lyrics and all of that stuff."
DEEP PURPLE's first new album in eight years, "Now What?!", topped charts in Germany, Norway and Austria and peaked at No. 19 in Britain.
"Now What?!" sold 4,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 115 on The Billboard 200 chart. The album was released in North America in April 2013 via earMUSIC, the Hamburg, Germany-based international rock label which is part of Edel Group.
DEEP PURPLE — which has been eligible for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for two decades now — finally entered the Rock Hall as part of the class of 2016. The band's first three lineups were inducted, including drummer Ian Paice, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, late keyboardist Jon Lord, and various singers and bassists — Rod Evans; Ian Gillan and Roger Glover; and David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes.

Holy crap....it only took 4,000 copies to make it to the no. 115 spot. If that isn't a sign of the times kinda statement about the current state of the recording industry! And that was back in 2013. I think it even has gotten worser since then 🙁 .
Thanks for the heads up. I remember Roger Glover talking a little while after "Now What" came out and the way he mentioned that they were ready or had another albums worth of material ready to go.
The last one was very solid but I still would like to hear more of a raw,edgier sound to the band. Will be looking for ward to it!!!

I agree. I have liked every album and loved every show. Some albums I like more than others. I will be honest and say that I do tend to listen to them a bunch when they come out and then rarely after. But some of that is due to the problem of having lots of music. 😛
My only other complaint would be to stretch out the setlists but that will never happen.
Steve Morse has amazing sound whether he is playing in a stadium or a club. Always so clear and each note jumping through the mix.

same here. I just have too much music. to me now what and perpendicular and the best morse era releases.

Ian can still sing real well in the lower range. Will never be able to hit the notes of Highway Star again and hasn't for a long time. Steve doubles the high screams with him but watching him turn red looks painful. So skip the song once in a while.
I have seen Morse with everything thing he has done except his time in Kansas. Small clubs to arenas and he is awesome. But....in DP, he always plays the same solo. Tour after tour. Why? He could fart on the strings and it would sound good. Mix it up a little.

yeah i'm looking at the setlists for the last 5-6 years. if its just them they play about 21 songs and this looks like the usual break down.

not just the band together but morse, glover and gillan have all released projects outside of deep purple in the last 10 or so years. I think each of those members has 2 solo albums in the last decade
