Dead & Co. Inquiry

Gotta love Oteil on Franklin's - they should have let him sing......

Blooby you make great points.

The Drums > Space has been esoteric. Mickey staying out is really changing the dynamic.

Thank you, Billy.
My new favorite part was Mickey Hart tongue-flicking his electric koto or whatever that thing is. Good lord, I nearly split a gut laughing. I haven't seen tongue usage like that since Christopher Walken licked the clothes dresser in Prophecy I.

I was cracking up too! Pretty funny!

I wish Mayer wasn't so eager to fill every gap.
Now that I think about that comment, it really wasn't about his personal life.

I haven't heard Mayer do one interesting thing since coming out of space.

I would agree. He is on auto-pilot and saying little for the time-being.
...with finger-tapping no less.

The little bird calls into the Other One were a really nice touch. I really dug the way Mayer handled that whole song. Pretty darn amazing output from the entire band.

This Stella is nice. Bob is shaky but great dynamics.

Thank you, Billy.

This "Not Fade Away" is really crisp!

Thanks so much for the link guys, I really enjoyed that concert! The Other One was especially awesome. I also enjoyed seeing Oteil play drums on Drums/Space!

They are rebroadcasting it now

Thought the music was excellently beautiful. Bobby's voice however annoys the cr_p out of me. He reminds me of Alfalfa from the 'Little Rascals' trying to hit the high notes.

Bobby Weir hasn't been able to sing in tune for 99% of his career. I've never understood how he can play so beautifully and not realize how terrible his singing really is. He has no idea how to breathe, he just shouts out the lyrics. Never could stand his 'singing'. Seen the Dead many times, Jerry-Band, many times. Never ever spent the bread for anything fronted by Bob Weird.

I felt like I got my money's worth. 😉
In all seriousness, I really enjoyed the live stream. Oteil was a really nice new addition to the party. I was at the Chicago Fare Thee Well shows, which I preferred, but I really like the fresh groove that the younger guys put on the material.
I'm also glad this was another opportunity for people to see what John Mayer can do, besides running off his mouth. He's a really great all-around player. He brought me around when I saw the John Mayer Trio at Crossroads. For those who would like to give that project a listen, "Try" is great. I think there is other disc of the band on a two disc collection from a few years later as well.

I thought the band sounded amazing. The songs were crystal clear and polished. I thought bob sounds fine and everyone seems to be enjoying what Mayer and Oteil bring to the table. The stream kept freezing and the screen was stuck on Micky Hart's tongue extended onto a string for what seemed like an eternity. I can do without the tongue playing. Would love to see this line up of Dead and Company headline Wanee with Widespread
