Thanks for posting this. I'd also like to know when it was taken!

Wow!!! Great photo! The complexity of the subject and depth is amazing!! The fact that You have two musical Icons, one older and obe very young. Two master musicians known in such a wude sweep of popular music covering 45 yrs. Country, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Bluegrass, Soul, Americana???..........Peace........joe

Do you hear Dickey is doing well these days Bruce?

That dobro looks similar to the one on the cover of Highway Call

Interesting blend of both relaxation and intensity in both of these masters' body language.

The Highway Call guitar is a wood body spider cone, I believe it was Duane's "Little Martha" dobro. This appears to be a brass body biscuit cone. For the record, the Patterns Disruptive guitar is a tricone.

I did an image search for it and found it on a blog page that was dated 2012

Derek looks young. My first guess would be 1999/2000, naturally, but there are similar photos out there featuring these guitars that state they are from Costa Rica. A quick search came up with some info that this was a Taj Mahal benefit from 2003-ish that included Dickey, Derek, Jimmy, among others.

great pic
Is Derek playing a Fender? I don't think I've seen that before.

Not sure of when the pic was taken. After 2001 I'm sure.
Last I heard about 6 weeks ago, Scott, is Dickey was quite comfortable hanging on the sofa watching movies...without a guitar in his hands.
