Sounds like the DLR from the past 10-12 years. Taking songs in his vocal range way out of his range and off-key.
But gotta love him. Also love the viewer comments on the YT pages. Must say it's an odd looking event to have the Robert Palmer type scantily-clad dance girls out there, but I guess that's about what you should expect from Dave.

The guitar player was very good and got a great tone, oddly using a Fender-looking surf guitar with single coils. But can't really tell from the video. Nice chops and has his EVH stuff down.

Also can't tell if Dave let his hair go gray or if it's dyed like a platinum blonde/white.

Sounds like someone's drunk Uncle getting up on stage with the band at a wedding.

DLR is painful. LOL But he has no shame I will give him that.

Like I said, sounds like the Dave from the past 10-12 years.

I've been listening to the Van Halen Live In Tokyo CD that came out from their 2015 reunion tour.

It's interesting. Eddie and Wolfgang are on fire, and Alex is right up there with them. THey are in prime fighting shape, and it makes me re-appreciate Eddie, a guitarist I had not listened to much since the 1980s. Those 3 are a hard rock machine, gleaming, powerful, intense.

But Dave, man, wow. Jeez.

To their credit, they did not fix the recording with overdubs ... clearly.

It is just inexplicable that the guy goes at these songs the way he does. It's as if this is the first time he is trying to sing the songs - he's just all over the place in terms of the notes that he emits. Sometimes it works. Other times, it is just so off. He must clearly not care. Anyone else would re-think things, try to sing around certain melodies, whatever. I know he was always a limited live singer, but now? whew. Yoiks.

Far from perfect, but Roth sounded much much better when VH reunited in 2007. It's a whole level worse now.

That said, they've been plagued by terrible sound / PA systems and venue mix (in addition to DLR being a liability) since their return in 2007. Every song sounds like the drums from Hot for Teacher. Atlanta Philips arena 2007 and Atlanta Music Midtown (about 4 years ago) had terrible sound even though you could tell Eddie & his son were killing it.
