David Gilmour US tour about to start

2 weeks the third leg of the Rattle That Lock Tour opens in LA.
I'm starting to get pretty excited for the tour, I will be at the Chicago Auditorium Theater show.
I've looked at the set lists for the 12 to 16 shows that have been played. As per Dave and Floyd set lists night-to-night they remain the same for both the Europe and South American dates so far.
Part 1
5 A.M.
Rattle That Lock
Faces of Stone
Wish You Were Here
A Boat Lies Waiting
The Blue
Money
Us and Them
In Any Tongue
High Hopes
Part 2
Astronomy Domine
Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 1-5)
Fat Old Sun
On an Island
The Girl in the Yellow Dress
Today
Sorrow
Run Like Hell
Time
Breathe (Reprise)
Comfortably Numb
One exception is he will throw in Coming Back to Life in the second set. When they do it, it is always after Fat Old Sun and they don't replace it with anything else, so those shows get an extra 7 minutes or so. He is playing
So who is going, what are your expectations and level of excitment? Might be the last time we get a chance to see him I wonder.

Sounds like you and I and Fujirich will all be at the same show - along with my brother......
The Iggy Pop show is the same night at the Chicago Theatre - too bad I can't do both......
I also have 2 tickets for sale for the Monday night show at the United Center in Chicago - $85 each includes the seat and the cd....

Sounds like you and I and Fujirich will all be at the same show - along with my brother......
Awesome!
Have you seen shows at this theater before?

Yes, but not in a while - they don't have too many shows there anymore.
Pretty sure I saw Jeff Beck, Jean Luc Ponty, Todd Rundgren & Utopia, Asia, Chick Corea with Herbie Hancock, McLaughlin/DiMeola/De Lucia, Return to Forever, Laurie Anderson, Van Morrison, and Frank Zappa there ....

Come on by and say hello!

I'll be attending night one in Toronto. Looking forward to crossing him off the bucket list.

I will be on the left side of the stage in that 2nd level of boxes on the side.....

looking forward to this as well.
I have tickets for the first night at MSG

We are sitting pretty close then. Fuji, those are incredible seats! Sang, I think I may be sitting just below where you are.
Cool to see we have friends catching NYC and Canada shows too. I'm sure more of us are going.
There is a fantastic video that many fans contributed to on dime and yeeshkull. Here is the dime link:

I've watched all or pieces of it three times already!

I saw the White Stripes there with my son. It's very nice.

Sounds good.
I was trying to decide between seeing him at the basketball arena or the theater...ticket location was similar and the same price, had to go for the theater. It's what David largely wanted for this tour when it was in it's planning stages saying "he wanted to see the faces of people he was playing to".
Seeing him in a place like this has me absolutely ecstatic. I'm assuming the large round big screen will be able to fit in there.
Now for the real question...NYC pizza is the best...tell me where (hopefully near the theater) I should go to challenge that thinking in Chicago!

Chicago Auditorium Theater LOOKS FRICKIN AMAZING!!!!!!! What a place to catch this!!!!
Astronomy Domine!!!!

Lou Malnati's? Geno's East?
I'd let a resident Chicagoan weigh-in. I've enjoyed Malnati's, never been to Geno's

Come on by and say hello!

David Crosby on a few songs there. He and Nash were guests at atleast one of the European Gilmour shows as well last fall. Will be interested to hear what he is adding to these songs last night.
Less than 2 weeks from going to Chicago!

I will be at the 4/11 show at MSG. Not sure what to expect, but am looking forward to seeing what happens!

Crosby and Nash seem to be at odds, interesting to think of their potential involvement here.

I grabbed this off the internet from the Hollywood Bowl show:

Nebish and Fujirich check your pm's.......

Uno's is better than both. So is Giordano's.

Fuji, are you gonna be packin'? I know how you feel about the Big, Bad City and its outrageously restrictive gun laws...*laugh*

Did anyone catch the David Gilmour documentary on Palladia last night? "Wider Horizons" I believe is the title of the movie. Excellent movie and a must see for any Gilmour or Floyd fan.
Right after they showed the concert David Gilmour and Friends with Crosby, Nash and David Bowie sitting in on various tunes. Also, Richard Wright played keyboards and I believe it was the last tour before his death. Both shows were excellent....

Damn...no I don't get palladia. Will have to see about tracking it down online or something.

Near my hotel I see Lou Malnati, Pauly's, Ginos, Pats, Boni Vino, Reggies, Giordano, Pizano and of course Sbarro which everyone knows is the best!
Maybe I can eat pizza for dinner one night and then eat some more for lunch on my way out Thursday?
If Uno is really worth it I can take a cab there.

What Do You Want From Me has been added to all but one night so far for this leg, same with Coming Back to Life which has been on all of the US/Canadian shows. He didn't play What Do You Want From Me on any of the South American or European dates, seems like maybe it gets played at the expense of On An Island, a frequent second set scratch.
Somebody had said about a raspiness in David's voice on a California show, listening to 4/1 now from Toronto seems it is still present on some songs.

I was in Chicago for Buddy Guy in January and went to both Giordanos which I liked the last time I was in the city and the original location of UNOs.. I have to say I was disappointed by both. Go to Lou Malnatti.

Thank you!
According to the Gilmour blog they say that more seats were released in the United Center and MSG, seats in the sections immediately on the side of the stage or slightly behind the stage. TM shows seats in these sections for all of the next 4 arena shows. The theater in Chicago is soldout. Glad I jumped on my ticket when I did last month.

It is worth it. For the ambiance alone - that is, if it's still over there on Ontario or Ohio or wherever it used to be.
Due's used to be just as good. They're competing brothers.
SBARRO the BEST? Surely you jest or are just seriously deluded...maybe where you come from Scott, but NOT in Chicago.
That's like going to Paris or Rome and eating at McDonald's.

Well I didn't see my favorite places like Dominos or Papa John or Pizza Hut so Sbarro was the next best thing. And what is this you say McDonald's isn't fine dining?

Not saying there's anything wrong with Mac's. But it should be AGAINST THE LAW to eat there when there better options!
You said it yourself when you talked about eating pizza in NYC. WHY would ANYONE eat Mac's in a city like New York, or Chicago, or New Orleans, or Memphis (both of which I was in recently - had probably the best meal of my LIFE in NOLA last month and AWESOME ribs in Memphis).
And make SURE you get an Italian Beef before you live Chi-town. There's an Al's Beef at 601 W. Adams just a couple of blocks from the Auditorium - which will BLOW YOU AWAY (I meant the theater, but the beef will too).
