Saw on the news last night David Allen Coe passed away at age 86. 

David grew up in reform school, spent five years in prison for burglary, was a member of the Outlaws motorcycle gang and released a couple of X-rated racist albums Coe later came to regret. 

He hired Warren Haynes out of Ashville, NC to play lead and slide in his band and it was Warren's first band to be known beyond regional recognition.

Warren eventually left and recently answered that is was too weird as the reason he left and began living in Nashville trying his hand at session work both as a guitarist and vocalist. 

Coe's favorite guitar player was Duane.
