Dave Rawlings Machine

I got the pleasure of seeing Dave with Gillian Welch, Willie Watson, Paul Kowert & Brittany Haas Sunday night. If you get a chance to see DRM, don't miss it. Last year's show (with John Paul Jones on mandolin instead of Brittany Haas on fiddle) was one of the very best concerts I've ever seen. They've sold out the 1000 capacity Variety Playhouse in Atlanta the last two holiday seasons.
I told someone that Rawlings is Willie Nelson on gutiar if Willie had Dickey Betts chops. And he is one cool customer on stage...not sure anyone has more fun playing folks/old country/harmony music than Dave. And Rawlings & Welch attract very considerate crowds...quiet songs are given pin drop silence, no iPhones, but people give appropriate hollars/applause and sing alongs as the show progresses.
Here is a taste of DRM doing the Dylan tune Queen Jane Approximately from last month...watch all the way until Rawlings solos...the joy in the place is palatable in this video and was even more so in person at Vareity. this was about my view Sunday night:
Wish DRM would play the Mushroom stage at Wanee!

I saw him for the first time in Philly a couple of months ago. It was indeed an enjoyable show, though it didn't particularly move me.
I will say his band was top notch, and he certainly has guitar chops.
But, for whatever reason the songs just didn't particularly strike me.

Have not seen them live. They are on my list but the album they released this year is one of the Top 5 albums of the year IMO.
