South 46 did a great tribute to The Allman Brothers Saturday night @ Little Lou's, which of course just happened to be the same day that Gregg passed.

Special guest was local guitarist Dave Gonzalez. Dave didn't do any Allmans or any of Gregg's solo stuff. Sure didn't matter. What an appropriate guy to show up, as he was a member of Gregg's solo band, The Alameda All-Stars, in the 90's.

Guitar players tell me that it's all in the fingers, and Dave is one of those guys who after only a few notes, you know he's got the touch.

Dave has had a project for several years with local guitarist Sammy Varela called Albatross: A Tribute to Peter Green. They'll be at Poor House Bistro in San Jose this Saturday night. I've seen them a couple of times and if the stars align I'll be there. Sammy is another Bay area monster. Sometimes I have to pinch myself at what I get to walk into a local club and hear around here for NO COVER..............

rob,

I remember seeing a handful of shows when the Alameda All-Stars were part of Gregg's band. Mark McGee was a really good lead player.

Just an FYI, Dave Gonzalez was only a member of the Alameda All-Stars for a short time, may have been a year or less, not really sure.
