Dale Watson is such a great time, the real deal, authentic Texas Honky-Tonk. Real glad I went. Wayne Hancock opened and I really dug him; he plays with no drummer, just mellow Texas roadhouse R&B. Hancock strums an acoustic with stand-up bass, lead electric guitar and pedal steel. His band is very good. My only complaint with Hancock was that after about 1/2 hour of a one hour 45 minute set it pretty much all sounded quite similar.

Not with Dale, though. He encompasses a menagerie of styles but still keeps it very authentic down home country music. Dales plays electric lead and rhythm guitar and is backed by drums, stand-up bass and pedal steel. Here is Dale's tribute to Merle Haggard which he wrote after Haggard passed away. The second one came next in the set as the Haggard tribute continued with Merle's own tune. I have more.

Feelin' Haggard
