I have been chatting with a few people on here about Dad and cancer. Easier to pass the news this way. Sorry to put a sad thread here on a beautiful day.
My Dad passed away this morning. We knew that he had cancer in the kidney but last week they discovered it in most organs. He had rapidly been declining and was never one to complain or get involved with pain medications.
He now gets to see my Mom again and watch the daily Heaven Jam. Will meet Duane before I do.
Give those close to you a hug and let them know that you love them. Cancer sucks.

Yes, cancer sucks. I have a sister 2-1/2 years younger than me who has been slowly dying of cancer for 5 years. It's agonizing for me, but of course much more so for her. She's the strongest person I know, and there is not anyone else even close. She continues to fight........so many meds, so many side effects..............

We need to find a cure
Thanks to all - wasn't trying for sympathy attention but will take it.
It has been a tough journey and the last couple of weeks have been pretty hard. On Monday, we talked for hours. I was supposed to take him out of the hospital for a bit. But when I got there, he asked if we could do it tomorrow as he was tired. I said of course and knew that we never would. Spent the day talking and watching him sleep. On Tuesday, he said three words to me. Watched him sleep for the rest of the week. On Saturday, he spoke a few sentences and ended with "I love all of you".
The previous week when I told him that I loved him. He cried ( only saw that before when Mom passed away) and said that he hardly ever said - I love you to me. Old school guy but there was never any doubt.
I caused him more grief over the years than he caused me but he was tough. My hair to my ass and R&R lifestyle didn't thrill him when I was young. When he figured out it was not a phase as I aged, he accepted it to a degree. He would come to actually be very proud of my music playing and career choices.
Became my best friend. Gonna miss him a lot. He never stopped bitching and complaining about me which was his twisted version of I Love You. Never thought that I would miss that but I already do.

Lost my dad last year to effin' cancer. He was 88. Was diagnosed 1,5 year before. He had a good life. But it still hurts to see the destructive impact of cancer.
