As someone who's recently taken up multi-track recording (hobby!), I find this fascinating. In the Tom Dowd documentary, he breaks the song down track by track. Tom Dowd is as important to this song (recording) as Clapton and Duane! When you hear all these bits and pieces they don't always sound like anything special. Tom had the ability to see the bigger picture - the sum of all the parts. He was a real, true genius!
