Just got tickets to see Puscifer in March. Would prefer to see Tool but that should happen someday

Saw this update on Oteil's Facebook Page
It only took me 8 years, but I’m finally done. I sang the last song on my record last night and this badass, Dave Yoke, put the last of only three guitar tracks on the whole record. Thank you Dave for putting the Yoke Power down on tape.

So far, I have tickets for Elvis Costello and Peter Frampton and of course, tonight:
Patti Smith! 40th anniversary of Horses! It will be epic!

One from my bucket list - John Mayall in Raleigh on March 12. Oh yeah - Tinsley Ellis in Durham on February 26 also.

Billy Gibbons and the BFG's on January 20th. Junior Brown February 19th.

I sure hope you write us up a review of this show Amy. I really wish she were playing in my neck of the woods. I expect it will be the concert of the year!!!

Wow, 2 great shows Billy. Nice!
I just saw Phish and have Lake Street Dive, Wood Brothers, TTB at the Apollo, Billy Joel and yes... Adele. So far.

OH, and Jason Isbell.

Here ya go:
The ornate Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland Oregon was packed with fans (of all ages, but the majority were older folks) to see Patti Smith, who was previously just here one month earlier reading from her new book M Train. Fans were treated to pre-show music over the PA by an array of classics from Television, The Modern Lovers, Ramones, Jim Carroll and Lou Reed, to name just a few.
The band took the stage promptly and everyone greeted them with a standing ovation. Patti didn't say anything before they launched into the first couple of songs off of Horses. She spit out the songs as if they were brand new and the band, consisting of original members Lenny Kaye, JD Daugherty and Tony Shanahan and newcomer Jack Petruzelli were in perfect form behind her. The crowd was on their feet, but security down front was trying to get people to sit down so others could see until Patti saw this and shouted "Leave them the #@$ alone!" and they stopped being goons. For the "in exelcis dio" part, she had a script with her, to make sure she could spit out all the words. After, she crumpled it up and threw it out to the crowd.
She spoke between several songs, took out a copy of the album and told everyone, "that was side A. Now we flip it over and play side B". She spoke often, even explaining that she and Tom Verlaine wrote the song Break it Up for Jim Morrison. After Horses was finished, she launched into many great hits almost exclusively from her earlier years. She talked of the people we lost who meant a lot to her (Reed, Carroll, Fred Smith, etc) and even mentioned people's pets, since we have such an attachment to them! She mentioned that both she and Lenny turned 69 this year before launching the band into a scorching version of Jimi Hendrix's "If 6 was 9". (she did mess up the lyrics and start again, but that was such a small glitch, it didn't take away from the power of the rendition).
At one point, clearly tired and in need of a small break, she left the stage and the band reminded us that while it was the 40th anniversary of Horses, it was the 50th anniversary of, in their words, "The greatest band to come out of New York" and they did a medley of Velvet Underground songs: Rock and Roll, Waiting for My Man and White Light, White Heat.
At several points in the show, Patti walked around the front of the stage, handing something out that resembled a sacramental ceremony. I was lucky enough to put my hand out and receive a small black button that read: Patti Smith (and under that) Horses. Highlights of the post-Horses part of the set were People Have the Power, Privilege and Because the Night. Two hours later it was over and people were high-fiving each other and talking about seeing "one of the top 10 shows of their life" and easily one of the best Patti shows this writer has ever seen.

Missed this until just now. Wow! The show sounds fantastic. I'm glad you got to be there. I've only seen Patti a handful of times. I really would have liked to have caught this tour. At nearly 70 years old I don't know how many more of these she can pull off.

Tool/Primus was a wonderful night...a delightfully disturbing assortment of sights and sounds.
I will say, though...most militant patrolling of no pictures/video clips by anyone with any sort of device I have yet to experience at any concert ever. Made for a lot of interesting to watch mini confrontations.

A friend of mine caught them in Florida and raved. I've checked their schedule and put myself on the mailing list in hopes of a Mid-Atlantic show.

David Gilmour, X2 second row seats in Toronto in March!

My wife's family lives in Louisville. We are going there to see Gillian Welch and David Rawlings (Actually, The Dave Rawlings Machine) on April 14th, then Taj Mahal on the 15th and 16th. The Taj shows are a mile from my mother-in-law's house. Should be a good weekend. Taj is still a super fun live artist.

Just heard that New Mastersounds will be in town in April. Hmmmmmmmmmmm

loving the new ttb album and scored front row(again) to see them 7/13 @ SPAC with los lobos and north miss all stars...can't wait. My bride and I are taking both our boys 19 & 13 to New Orleans for the second weekend of jazz fest. will see TTB , Gary Clark jr (first time) Neil Young and many many many more!!!

My partner loves Pearl Jam and has always wanted to see them in the U.S. I took a punt a while back on a pair of reasonably priced flights from the U.K to Chicago as a Birthday present and have been waiting anxiously over the weekend for the results of the presale draw for the two Wrigley Field shows in August. Result! Scored seats for both shows!!! So,
Sat Feb 20 Cluny, Newcastle UK Devon Allman Band
Sat April 14 Tavern, Blyth, UK. Rare hometown show by internationally renowned Blues harp player Paul Lamb and the Kingsnakes.....down the local pub.
Sat May 16. Holmfirth UK Gov't Mule
Thurs June 9 Gateshead UK Dan Baird and Homemade Sin Accoustic
Fri June 10 Leeds UK Neil Young and the Promise Of The Real
20,22 August, Chicago, Wrigley Field, Pearl Jam

Just got Iggy Pop tickets on 3/29 and will be getting Springsteen tickets for 3/22!! The River tour (which I saw the original of in '81!) It's shaping up to be a good year for live music!! Now, if only Dead & Co would come to the pacific northwest!

Seeing The Who on February 27th, got to see the legends before they die.

The Rides = Stephen Stills, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Barry Goldberg, Chris Layton.

This looks great! I don't know if you know about St. Paul and The Broken Bones, but they're one of my new faves! How these southern white boys play with that much soul is just amazing! You're in for a treat (and look at the company they're keeping!)

I love St. Paul and The Broken Bones. They played a free summer festival in my hometown in 2014 and blew everybody away. I already had their CD and knew what to expect but for most people in the crowd they were an unknown band. The roars of approval from the crowd (especially for their amazing lead singer) didn't went unnoticed by the band. It was the last gig of their European Tour and they tweeted something like "Wow, yesterday's show really made this tour end on a high note" or words like that. I hope they will release their second album soon.

Bought tickets today to see Chris Cornell in CT so looking forward to something new.

It has been a strong year for shows for me already with Warren, Anders Osborne, Jorma. A couple upcoming ones are Experience Hendrix, Brit Floyd, Galactic, Ron Holloway, Gregg and Gilmour. Trower in April and then we'll see what else from there.
It was a 2015 release, but I bought it in 2016...the new Widespread Panic CD is GREAT! As in the best new release from a band I've bought in a long long time. Seen them the last 2 years in Cleveland and Pitt, but doesn't look like I will get to one of their shows this year.
