Closing songs on albums

The thread about Thorn Tree made me think. The last songs on some albums seem like they are perfectly placed to tie things up, like the song at the end of an encore at a concert. Sometimes they are short, typically they are "quiet".
Her Majesty and Little Martha are the best examples, imo
other ones I always liked:
ABs Song - MTB self titled
I Won't Be Here - Soul Insight, Marcus King
Already Free - DTB, Already Free
any others?

"Pony Boy" Brothers & Sisters
"The End" The Doors (sometimes they are long)
"Eclipse" Dark Side of the Moon

"Eclipse" is a stunning ending.
The great Genesis album ends with the awesome epic "Cinema Show" whose climactic keyboard solo segues into the graceful denouement of "Aisle of Plenty," which recaps the melodic guitar lick from the opening of the album.
"Love, Reign O'er Me" ends the journey of the "Quadrophenia" album on an incredibly dramatic moment. THAT is a finale!!

I always thought All Along The Watchtower should have been flip-floped with Voodoo Child (Slight Return) to close out Electric Lady Land.

Moonlight Mile
Bold As Love

Two more last song thoughts:
"Tomorrow Never Knows" from the Beatles' Revolver is quite a contrast:
.
But "I'll Be Back" from A Hard Day's Night is one of their most beautiful, haunting songs:
.
The best way to listen to each is with headphones.
Billastro

I think "A Day in the Life" wears the crown.
exactly!!

Great choices!
The Beatles knew how to sequence an album. Even going way back, I thought that Not a Second Time was a great ending for Meet the Beatles ( or With the Beatles, depending on where you live), although the song has sunk to obscurity and is nowhere near the masterpiece that A Day in the Life is.
And their first- Twist and Shout
Just remembered the aptly titled My Opening Farewell (Jackson Browne)

I’ve always thought “Wake up. You’re in the presence of your future” the perfect closer on Funkadelic’s epic ‘America Eats It’s Young’.

Aerials from System of a Down's Toxicity album. Actually the "hidden" track at the end of that is a cool traditional Armenian tune.

Rice Pudding on Beck-Ola

Jackson Browne, The Pretender album, The Pretender.

on Pearl Jam's 10, release me .... followed by minutes of silence and the reprise of the opening of the album. I thought that was great, especially for a debut album.
little Martha wraps up one of the best album's ever
Wake Up Time, tom petty's wildflowers. just a great way to end his masterpiece. "It's wake up time. time to open up your eyes. and rise. and shine."
I know it's rap, but a tribe called quest ended the low end theory album with "Scenario" - that's pretty solid for that genre.

Johnny B Goode, the London Chuck Berry Sessions (we want Chuck, we want Chuck)
Where Were You Tomorrow, Wishbone Ash - live cut closing out Pilgrimage & why it was no surprise what an awesome album the later Live Dates was (& is) - a band as great as it was underrated

What about "hidden tracks"? These usually come at the end - several seconds after the last song listed on the album sleeve. A Beatles-eque thing - you get up off the couch to flip the album (if vinyl) ... you get halfway to the turntable/CD player and another song starts. Case in point: Wilco's, "Summerteeth" - after the final song, wait about a minute and "Candyfloss" starts playing. A bonus for those of us who procrastinate the flipping of the vinyl!

^^
those are cool
so was the 1st PJ album
I think the 1st TTB album had one at the end of Shelter (I remember especially because Shelter was may wedding song and the band didn't want to play a 7 :00 song)
