Has anyone seen these? We were on vacation about a month ago and the place we stayed at had
AXS TV. They showed the episode of the The Doors making they're first release. Very insightful and enjoyable to watch. It was made before Ray Manzarek passed,so he was part of it and so was Krieger and Densmore.

On a side note, on our way to our vacation we were listening to a podacast that featured rock n roll photographer Henry Diltz. He shot the cover to the Doors "Morrison Hotel" and other famous musicians during that era. He had a lot of stories about the Doors and other acts during that time frame. Pretty interesting also.

here is a link to some of his work

if it's what I'm thinking of, they are AMAZING. My only wish is that there were MORE of them.

They do such a good job that even albums that I have very little interest in become fascinating to learn about due to the style of the documentary. I'm thinking of "Bat Out Of Hell" and "Fly Like An Eagle" there. I love how you get different people stepping up to the mixing board to turn certain tracks up or down to highlight the different parts of a song. Very cool.

The ones I love are mostly about albums I already love: Machine Head, Who's Next, Dark Side of the Moon. They have some vintage footage plus new interviews, and with these albums, which I have overplayed to death, you get your batteries re-charged and fall in love with them all over again.

And the one with The Band is priceless. Yes, these beat the heck out of "VH-1 Behind the Music."

I agree, it was pretty amazing. That was the first one I have watched and I was
very impressed by the breakdown of all what went into the making of the album.

I need to watch the Purple one for sure.
