Chuck plays Floyd

Just passing on some news
Chuck Leavell is joining David Gilmour band for summer. I don't know if he will get the opportunity to shine like Rick Wright did on gilmour last tour, but i curious how he sounds with them. Wife really wanted to go to Pompeii, now I am more interested too. So expensive, but she's never been to Europe

Good for Chuck and good for Gilmour!
More experienced Gilmour fans can correct me if I'm wrong, but the live stuff I've heard him do the solo parts are pretty canned, but it's been a while.

From Chuck > “I was pleased and surprised to be contacted by David (Gilmour) a couple of months ago asking me if I would be available to tour with him in June and July. My first contact with David was back in 1984 when I was the Musical Director of a show broadcast on MTV called “Guitar Greats”. David was a part of that, and he was amazing. Then a few years later when I was with Eric Clapton, David invited me and some of the other members of the band to his home where we had a memorable night talking about music and life in general. To have him reach out to me now is truly an honor, and I can’t wait to start work with him and the band. My good friend, Greg Phillinganes, who I was honored to work with during some of my Clapton days will also be playing keyboards on the tour and I look forward to “tag teaming” with him again. The timing for this is perfect, as the Stones will gear up again for our “Desert Trip” shows and some other activity in September and October. So this is proving to be an extraordinary year for me!

If you have the opportunity to see Gilmour this tour go, it is a great show

Interesting gig for Chuck. So, who's got examples of Chuck playing a Pink Floyd song that they can come up with? He played Shine On You Crazy Diamond when he was touring with Gov't Mule on 9-20-2001. That's the only one I can find in my collection. Anybody got any other Chuck plays Floyd examples? There wouldn't be too many of them I imagine. Gilmour didn't even play any Floyd tunes at that Guitar Greats show mentioned by Chuck from '84. I'm wondering if that lone SOYCD might be it?

Saw him twice in Toronto this year. Wow is all I can say.
Man still has got it!
Mike

I think one of these upcoming shows is going to be a webcast, can't remember if I'm correct on that.
