Chicago Blues Festival 2018

Hey Gang -
The Chicago Blues Fest is coming up in a few weeks, Friday - Sunday, June 8th - 10th. This year's lineup is really good. For the past handful of years they cut back on big names. Actually there were none, but this year is different. I almost always go on Friday at least (fewer people), but this year Saturday and Sunday are awesome.
Check it out.
Saturday: Sonny Landreth. Hell, he is worth the price of admission alone. Oh wait, it's free. The headlining show is a tribute to Little Walter. Billy Branch (Great guy. has opened for Mule and I think Panic), Corky Seigel (Seigel Schwall Band), Sam Lay (Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf among others), Magic Dick (J. Geils).
Sunday: Mavis Staples of The Staples Singers. They had a tribute show her a couple of years ago. Gregg was in it. And before her is Kenny Neal. He's awesome.
Not sure what the Delmark Tribute thing is but this place as amazing in and of itself.

And did I mention it is free?
They moved the location two years ago from Grant Park to Millennium Park which I don't like. I think the other place was better but last year they let you bring in coolers which saves you a ton of money. Hopefully this year is the same.
Anyway, it's a great time. Hope you can make it here. And no, I don't work for the tourist department. 😉

Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

Thanks for the heads up!
I've always taken this fest for granted, unfortunately.
One of the few reminders why my sky high Cook County tax bill is more valuable than I realize

Wow that's a killer lineup! Way better than they've had in previous years.....wish I still lived there 🙁

The 2018 Chicago Blues Fest is creeping up! I will be working the tent at The Windy City Blues Society's spot right at the The Front Porch Stage Friday & Saturday afternoons. It isn't the pavilion but it's a great location.
If anyone is in town please drop by and say hello and / or introduce yourself if we've never met. Might be able to get you some Blues Fest Stuff.

Have fun!!

Regarding my earlier post, a message from the city:
Like previous years, alcohol will also be prohibited at the two ticketed concerts presented by Jam Productions (June 3 & June 17).
Outside alcohol will be allowed at the other 70 public concerts and programs happening in Millennium Park this summer.
So the restriction only applies to a Robert Plant concert in a few weeks.

Hey Lee. I'll try to stop by Saturday afternoon.

Hey Randy. Not going to work the tent today but weather permitting I will DEFINITELY go to see Sonny Landreth.
Check your PM's.

Have fun guys! Nice to see you around, Randy.
