Just saw that Charlie Daniels passed away this morning. What an incredibly sad happening. He was blessed with love of the Lord and music as well. His contributions to music can not be easily overlooked. My sincere condolences to his family, friends, fans and entire crew. He will be greatly missed by many people.

A great man has left us - patriot, redneck, hippie, deeply religious, rocking fiddle/guitar player playing that foot stompin hootenanny southern fried rock n roll music....
He had a great life - the CDB
Rest In Peace Charlie

Yep, he wore a lot of hats - 10 gallons or better, each one.

So many memories, including the Eric Clapton show (461 Ocean Blvd) - corrupted by "God"'s own drunkenness and apparent unwillingness to even play. The little known (to me - 1974) opener came out and blew everybody away. Eric had to play after that!

Charlie's participation with Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash on Nashville Skyline - one of Bob's greatest!

His politics: okay - not my personal favorite facet of Charlie. I'll give him credit for having the stones to call 'em like he saw 'em.

Crowd Pleaser! The last two times that I saw Charlie perform were separated by only a few months. The first of these was an outdoor show with a symphony (part of the "pops" package). Charlie played to a bunch of conservative types. Great show, but he did punctuate the evening with rants about "rag heads in the middle east ...". This crowd ate it up. A couple of months late - CDB opening for Widespread Panic - and the traveling horde of hippies that frequent those shows. Charlie stayed away from politics - but played a blistering set that left the hippies wondering who they'd really paid to see.

I'v always had and always will have a spot for Charlie Daniels deep in my heart. God rest ya' big guy.

sad to hear about this.
I saw him about 5 times between 75 and 80 (memorable show was in 75 when the Outlaws opened for him).
He always put on a great show.

RIP Long Haired Country Boy

Just heard about Charlie's passing while I was checking the news online.

"Uneasy Rider" and "Long Haired Country Boy" (just to name a couple) are easily two of my all-time favorite songs.

R.I.P. to another music legend.

Sad to say Charlie Daniel's has passed from a hemorrhagic stroke at Summit Medical Center, in Hermitage, Tennessee near his home in Mt. Juliet. He was a paternal musical influence to many, brought years of joy to many and a little hell raisin too with his music and low key but iconic life.

His influence reached many people and I know even after the Milion Mile album tour he takes a million miles of reflections with him and left the same in everyone else as this long haired country boy cowboy goes home.

We will miss you Charlie and thanks for the music.

Funeral arrangements to be announced shortly.

Was it Covid 19 related?.

No it was just his time. He had pneumonia in 2013 and had a pacemaker put in. In 2018 he had cardiac catheter ablation done and blogged about it on his soapbox blog I think in October.

Other than that he was fit as a fiddle with upcoming tours scheduled.

It was just his time.

My first ABB show was in September of '73 @ The Oakland Colosseum. The CDB opened, followed by the MTB and the Brothers closed, used to have the ticket stub, $5 for the whole evening. I can recall little except our entrance, Charlie was on stage playing slide and his guitar and slide were illuminated by the rotating mirror ball hanging from the ceiling...We fired up a joint and watched in awe, all of us thinking "Who is this guy"?...and "Why were we late"?....All we caught was maybe the last 5-10 minutes of his set, but were fans from that moment...I can remember being at the local record shop a few days later (Licorice Pizza)? and buying "Fire on the Mountain" and recognizing "King-sized rosewood bed" as the song that mesmerized us a few evenings before...

R.I.P. Charlie, you are already missed...

Charlie was one of the opening acts(Muddy Waters was the other) at the first ABB show I ever went to.

Saw him probably 15-20 times after that

Glad I got to see him one last time last year at the Beacon.

RIP Mr. Daniels

Thanks for sharing this one too. I saw the Allman Betts Band down in Key West a month or two before this show. One of the most fun evenings I have had in many years. So neat to see how happy they all look playing together!

Charlie said more than once the most exciting music he ever heard is Duane Allman playing Statesboro Blues on the Fillmore album.

Here it is one more time Charlie. RIP.

He was going to be here in Macon September 26th.

One of his first songs i ever heard:

He was scheduled to play here at Westbury in May but everything still closed due to Covid at that time. I was there backstage when he played the Nassau Coliseum 20,000 seats sold out. He was so proud of that accomplishment but he was also just as happy playing anywhere. I know he is happy being reunited with Taz his keyboardist who was killed in an auto accident on I-75 heading to meet the bus at the recording studio. That's what they did meet up at the studio and get on the bus and hit the road. No planes for Charlie.

He had evolution in his band with new members but one thing stayed the same. He was a good old boy with a great roadshow.

Lots of others up there too who will greet him in that great home awaiting in the sky Lord in the sky...

Duane was Charlie's favorite guitar player. But if they ever crossed paths I never heard or read about. Been a hardcore fan since 1970.

Go to https://www.charliedaniels.com

Soap Box

Charlie Jr. Posted what happened the morning Charlie had the stroke and passed on. He also relates they plan to continue doing what Charlie would have wanted retweeting some of his posts and even thinking about continuing the Volunteer Jam. Get on the highway, "let it roll my way, crank up the big wheels and let it roll on, movin' like a fast train, just give me that passin' lane and I'll be gone, packin' my load a little further down the road", and he is just further down the road than we all are.

Found this too.
