Call Me The Breeze - Knebworth 1976

Cruisin' the youtubes today and landed on this gem...
Every time I've ever seen/heard this, I'm just struck...regardless of what happened to the Lynyrd Skynyrd legacy in recent years, man, were the originals damn good or what?
This is just so jaw-droppingly tight.

I was there that day ... they were followed by 10CC and then Rolling Stones - who were top of the bill - but everybody was buzzing because of the Skynyrd set ...

The "tongue" portion of the stage was off limits and reserved for only The Stones to use.
So of course during "Freebird" Ronnie led the troops right down the middle of the whole damn thing. Leon stayed back because his cord was too short.
Ronnie didn't scare easy.

Nice.

Saw them twice at Winterland in S.F. back in the 70s. Still, some of my best concert memories to this day...

It reminds me of other 70's band.

For years I dismissed Skynyrd as this lame redneck band with too many guitar players and I was so sick of hearing people screaming Free Bird that I used to put down the band at every opportunity.
But when I started playing guitar, and actually studying what bands were doing, I was floored by them. And while they may have been embraced by the "southern culture", they sang about how evil guns and drugs were. And they really put some incredible effort into not stepping on each other, crafting excellent songs and making great music. They were one of the best bands and deserve another look.

That was great, and superb audio/video quality! THANKS..............
I saw the original band this same year, they opened for Black Sabbath. I don't remember Skynyrd being as good as they are in this video.
